With 2,100 in the pot, three players saw a flop of . Humberto Brenes was first to act and checked from the small blind. The player in the hijack did the same, allowing the button to bet 1,300. Brenes made the call while the hijack got out of the way.
When the hit the turn, Brenes checked and the button threw out a blue T5,000 chip. We're not sure how much he had bet, but it wasn't the entire 5,000; nonetheless, Brenes asked for a total count and bet enough to set his opponent all in. The button tanked for a couple of minutes before grabbing his chips, around 8,000 total, and committing them to the pot. Unfortunately for him, his was drawing dead to Brenes' flopped flush.
The inconsequential was put out on the river as the Costa Rican pro chipped up to around 33,000.
We're not sure how it happened, but Latin American Poker Tour Punta del Este champion, Alex Komaromi, has been eliminated here in Colombia. Komaromi, who was no doubt hoping to capture his second LAPT title, couldn't get much going here today.
After a player in early position limped and was followed by a middle-position player, Alex Manzano raised to 1,425. The EP player quickly got out of the way while MP made the call. We’re not sure of the flop, because the action happened so fast. It simply went check, bet 1,775, and fold. Manzano took down the pot without a fuss and chipped up to approximately 80,000!
Action folded to an unknown player in the hijack and he promptly opened for 800. The cutoff, button, and small blind all folded, putting action on Humberto Brenes in the big blind. Ever vocal, Brenes uttered something in Spanish before making the call. The flop didn’t inspire much action as both players checked, leading to the turn.
At this point, Brenes lead out for 700, his opponent called, and the appeared on the river. Again Brenes bet, this time 1,100, but the hijack responded with a raise to 3,225. Brenes must have known something was up as he gave a little speech and folded his two pair. His intuition was right as the hijack was kind enough to show him his rivered straight.
