After the field was cut to three the remaining players agreed upon a three-way chop.

Gerald Stogner was awarded the top prize for $23,742 for having the largest chip stack at 5,420 which was slightly more than Duc Le in second place with 4,780,000, while Clinton Phillip sat in third place.

Stogner, a native of Kokomo, Mississippi, will also take home the shiny championship belt buckle and plaques for his victory.

"I drove seven and a half hours to come play this tournament and it was definitely worth it," he told PokerNews. "I just had a feeling I had a chance when I saw the entry numbers on the first few flights"

Action of the Day

The day began with 51 players and was quickly whittled down after a steady stream of eliminations. Start-of-the-day chip leader Justin Osbourne was eliminated shortly before the final table in 11th place.

The final table began with Stogner in the chip lead and Le close behind him. The table would be a fairly straightforward affair with most of the players going out where their chip count would have anticipated without a ton of up and down swings. The lone exception being Lawrence Wayne, who rode a short stack all the way to sixth place.

After Wayne's elimination in sixth, play would slow down and hit a snag, with no eliminations happening for over an hour. Eventually Jason Lang would be knocked out in fifth place and Collin Rountree followed him out the door in fourth place to create the chop scenario.

PokerNews will continue coverage of the Lone Star Poker Series tomorrow at 2 p.m. local time for a variety of events.
