Thierry van den Berg opened under the gun for 1,000 and saw a player behind him 3-bet to 3,400. One cold-caller followed and Van den Berg decided to call as well.
The flop came and Van den Berg checked. Another check and a bet of 6,000 followed. Van den Berg pushed all in and was called by .
Blanks on the turn and river resulted in a double up for Van den Berg.
We caught the tail end of a hand involving former MCOP champion Noah Boeken. Again, Rens Feenstra and Pim Kuipers offered some more details of what the lead up to that point.
A player opened in early position and the small blind and Noah Boeken in the big blind both called. The blinds checked to the initial raiser on and a continuation bet followed. The small blind gave up but Boeken shoved for about 13,000. The initial raiser called.

The on the turn and on the river were of no help to Boeken and he exited. Boeken busted out earlier today already, so he won't be able to enter Day 1b again. If he so wants, he can enter Day 1c which started 15 minutes ago and plays in a turbo format. Or, if he's not into playing turbo, he can still reenter tomorrow before the start of Day 2.
Former champion Jussi Nevanlinna was just seen with his face hidden away in his shirt in a hand against Michiel Brummelhuis. The latter told us he had bet all the way on a board of only to get check-raised on the river by Nevanlinna. Nevanlinna, who won this event back in 2015, didn't have to hold his breath for too long as Brummelhuis folded almost immediately.
The next hand, Brummelhuis got those chips back, and then some. He got it in with against the of a different opponent and won on .
Jussi Nevanlinna has a pretty good track record here at the Master Classics of Poker in Amsterdam, having finished in the money 4 times. Three of those times, he made the final table. Once, 2 years ago, he won the event.
There's a long way to go for Nevanlinna to do that again. He's not off to a great start as he's relatively short with 17,000 in chips. He just lost preflop all in against . He flopped a set on but his opponent made a flush on the turn. The on the river didn't pair the board and Nevanlinna parted ways with a sizable chunk of chips.
You don't need to use Google Translate to see what happened here. Dennis Lavrijsen busted the Main Event running kings into aces. According to his tweet, that was the 3rd time this week for that to happen.
Wat een verschrikking. Bust ME met KK vs AA voor 3de keer deze week, na hele dag folden en nix hitten..soms ist echt een K.U.T spel
The player under the gun opened for 1,500. Next up was Hakim Zoufri who shoved for 17,300. His neighbor cold called and action folded around to the initial raiser. That player tanked for a bit before letting it go.
Hakim Zoufri:

The board ran out and Zoufri hit the rail. Zoufri, who won last year's MCOP Main Event, already entered twice today, so he won't be able to buy back in. He can, however, enter once more before the start of play on Day 2, if he so chooses.
