Day 1a Started
Welcome to opening day coverage of the Luxon Pay Mediterranean Poker Party held at the beautiful Merit Royal Diamond Hotel and Casino in North Cyprus.
It will be a packed month of poker festivities with Day 1a of Event #1 $1,100 MPP Open kicking off proceedings, which boasts a guarantee of $1,000,000.
Players competing in The MPP Open will start with 50,000 chips and will have 18 levels of 40-minutes to amass a big stack to take to Day 2 which will be played on Monday, August 22nd.
If plan A does not work, players will be able to reenter once, failing that they can play any of the three remaining flights with one reentry allowed.
Cards will be in the air at noon, local time with late registration closing at 9.45 p.m. There will be a 15-minute break after every three levels, apart from the 60-minute dinner break at approximately 7 p.m. local time.
This event is an appetizer for things to come with prestigious events such as the The One Drop, The PokerNews Cup, and the MPP Main Event which will lead into the Triton Series where the best players on the planet will clash in big-stakes tournaments.
As always PokerNews will provide all of the vital updates throughout the event.
There is a short delay to the start of day, though play is expected to start shortly as more players register for the event.

Cards are in the air for the MPP Open after a short delay, with 16 players starting off the action
After Roy Tannous had bet the turn from the big blind to around 4,000 with around 8,000 in the pot, the under-the-gun player Mahmoud Rahmani responded by raising to 14,000 on a board. Tannous made the call setting up a river.
After the dynamic completed the board, Tannous checked it over to his opponent who went into the tank for the better side of a minute before moving all in for his last 30,000. Having him just covered, Tannous made the call and tabled which was good versus Rahmani's hand, who mucked as he was sent to the rail.
