£140 Main Event - Road to PSPC

Day 3 Started

The Moneymaker's Road to the PSPC Tour Will Play Down to a Winner Today

Final Table Line Up
Final Table Line Up

The final table line up has been decided. Each of the nine remaining players are guaranteed at least £1,500, but they will undoubtedly have their sights on the £11,200 prize for first place, not to mention a highly sought-after Platinum Pass*. The 2020 edition of the PSPC will be held in Barcelona from August 20-24 at Casino Barcelona. With the Platinum Pass adding so much value to first place, the payout for second place has been adjusted to take some of the sting out of coming second.

That is something Justin Bateson knows about all too well after finishing runner up in London at the end of October. By the end of today, we will know whether or not Bateson has been able to convert his chip lead into a win.

The third and final day will kick off at 12pm here at Aspers Casino Stratford. Levels will increase to 40 minutes long and play will rewind to the start of Level 29 (50,000-100,000 100,000 big blind ante). PokerNews will be back here from 12:30pm, to stay in line with the 30-minute delay on the live stream. If previous days are anything to go by, the action will be fast and furious and something definitely not to be missed.

Shuffle Up and Deal

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Cards are in the air for the final of the Moneymaker's Road to the PSPC 2020. Levels have rolled back to the beginning of Level 29.

Mackie Takes the Lead

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Duncan Mackie has taken the chip lead after a multi-way pot played out to the river. There was a 250,000 open from Gary Miller with {a-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and three players called behind: Valdir Santos with {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, Duncan Mackie with {a-Clubs}{q-Spades} and Robert Buky defended his big blind with {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

It was checked all the way down to the {k-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} river and Miller bet 275,000, which Santos and Duncan Mackie both called. Mackie took the pot and it puts him into the lead now.

Huge Fold From Spataru; Buky Back in the Game

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

Dan Spataru raised to 225,000 with {k-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} and was three-bet by Duncan Mackie to 650,000 with {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}. Robert Buky got 790,000 all in on the cutoff with {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and everyone else got out of the way. Spataru used a couple of time bank cards and surprisingly opted to fold.

There was a seven in the window on a {2-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs} flop. The turn was the {j-Hearts} and the river a {q-Hearts} and Buky has dodged a bullet to bring him back in the game.

Ahmed Makes a Move

Level 29 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante

[Removed:148] opened to 275,000 with {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Dan Spataru flatted in middle position with {9-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}. Folding round to Rungarun Thongnonsung in the blinds and she three-bet small to 550,000 and got calls from both of her opponents.

On the {6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop, Thongnonsung checked and Ahmed moved all. Spataru was covered and elected to let it go, unbeknownst to him that he had the best had.

Thongnonsung folded too and that pot gives Ahmed an important boost up the counts.

Dan Spataru Eliminated in 9th Place (£1,500)

Valdir Santos opened the action to 275,000 with {a-Spades}{5-Hearts}. [Removed:148] flatted {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} on the button and Dan Spataru squeezed 1,065,000 with {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs} in the small blind.

Santos got out of the way but Ahmed made the call. Spataru needed help to stay in the tournament but couldn't find it on the {2-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{3-Spades}{10-Hearts}{j-Spades} board and is the first to be eliminated from the final table.

Meanwhile Ahmed extends his chip lead with 65 big blinds in play.
