David Zeitlin opened to 2,600 in early position and David Williams popped it to 6,600 from the small blind. Zeitlin went all in for about 30,000 and Williams made the call with , leading Zeitlin's .
The board ran out and Williams' pair help to up send Zeitlin to the rail.

Corkins sans cowboy hat
Hoyt Corkins hasn't kicked off the day in first gear. In fact, he's got all four wheels locked into overdrive and is really pressing down on the accelerator. He's raised several pots here in the early going preflop and also tossed in a few three-bets here and there. Some of his tablemates are beginning to wonder if Corkins is just revving it up or has been blessed with the goods here in the early goings.
Just recently, Michael Binger raised to 2,500 from the cutoff and Corkins three-bet to 7,600. Binger folded and gave a little smirk. Along with Binger, Corkins is joined up Jeff Vanchiro, Sirous Jamshidi, Danny Suied and Sorel Mizzi so this isn't just t able full of slumps.

Markholt eyes Deeb's stack.
As our colleague FerricRamsium noted, there are several interesting tables out there. One is right by our media desk. Table 18 features Shaun Deeb, Vanessa Rousso and Lee Markholt.
Markholt and Deeb went to war on a board of . It appeared that action on the flop was check, check. Deeb also checked the turn, giving Markholt an opening to bet 4,000. Deeb check-raised that amount to 11,400.
Markholt leaned left in his seat to get a better look at Deeb's stack and then made the call. Both players checked the river, with Deeb's making a pair of queens and winning the pot.

Maria Ho had a bet of 5,500 laid out in front of her on the final board of . Her opponent made the call and a brief moment and Ho tabled the for a king-high straight. Her opponent mucked and Ho scooped the pot to add a nice bunch of chips to her stack. She's now got about 80,000 chips.

Al Riccobono on Day 1
Al Riccobono won a nice little pot to move his stack up over 40,000 to about 43,000. He limped under the gun and then the player on the button raised to 3,100. Riccobono called and the two took a flop of with two spades.
Riccobono checked the flop to the preflop aggressor and he fired 5,300. Riccobono then moved all in to put his opponent at risk if he called. The player folded and Riccobono scooped the pot.
After the hand, Riccobono stated that when he tossed in the call preflop, it landed on the NAPT logo on the felt and he didn't think the player saw the limp. He also said that he fopped middle set with sevens.

Sometimes tournament poker is about catching the right hand at the right time. Tomas Dobrilovic was dealt the red aces at the same time as a similarly stacked opponent was dealt the black kings. With each player having about 30 big blinds, it's no surprise that all of the chips wound up in the middle. Dobrilovic's aces held on a board of of .

After recently four-bet shoving over Aaron Lerner's three-bet, Mercier attacked on Lerner again. This time Mercier and Lerner got it all in preflop with Mercier holding two eights and Lerner .
The eights held for Mercier and he doubled to about 76,000 chips.

Josh Goldstein recently was crippled down to just a few thousand chips when he ran jacks into queens. Shortly thereafter, Goldstein was all in for 4,000 before a player min-raised to 7,000 from later position. Aaron Lerner called from the small blind, creating a small side pot for the two remaining players in the hand.
After a flop of , Lerner fired 6,000. His opponent raised to 17,500 and Lerner folded, but didn't look pleased that he got raised. Goldstein looked like all his hopes were dashed. But then, the player tabled just for overcards and a flush draw. Goldstein actually had the best hand at the time with two red threes. Lerner saw his opponent's hand and slammed his fist on the table in disgust.
The turn card was the and then the river the , allowing the Goldstein to triple back to just under 15,000 chips. Lerner was visibly upset with the player's play in the hand and now has only 30,000 chips.

Brandon "AreTheseUtz" Hall raised from the hijack and David Williams re-raised 5,000 more on the button. The blinds folded and Hall four-bet to 16,000 total.
Williams made the call and the flop came down . Hall fired 15,700 and Williams was quick to call, leading to the turn. Hall checked this time and Williams bet about the rest of Hall's stack, roughly 40,000. Hall went all in and Williams shook his head, making the call knowing he was in trouble.
Hall tabled and Williams was drawing dead with . The river was a meaningless and Williams slips to under 200,000 while Hall increases his stack to about 150,000.

One of the more remarkable stories that came out of yesterday was a ridiculously sick call made by Faraz Jaka towards the en of the day. Although we didn't witness the hand, our colleagues at the PokerStars Blog did. You can read more there, but essentially Jaka called a river shove with just unimproved -- and won the pot! The tale of that hand had made its way around several of the tables in action today.
In the back room, Gavin Smith is once again telling his table about what a drinker he is. Today his estimation of his 2009 drinking is that he had 20 or more drinks 340 days out of last year -- down from yesterday's estimation of 345 days.
Phil Ivey, who started in the overflow room,is now at a table in the center of the main tournament room. His seat gives him n excellent view of a large projection against one wall which is showing live coverage of the Masters. Ivey's eyes are continuously darting towards the coverage, as Tiger Woods is scheduled to tee off at 1:42pm, in about 30 minutes. Yesterday Ivey booked action with David Singer on Tiger to win, getting better than 5-to-1.
