Mexican Poker Anyone?
We've spotted another tough table in the room, but they're not so much worried about this NAPT Main Event here in the early goings, but rather chatting about how to play Mexican poker. The table consists of two Team PokerStars USA pros, Jason Mercier and Vanessa Selbst along with Justin Young and Dave Sands. Young is busy explaining how to play Mexican poker to Selbst and his other tablemates. Selbst seems very keen on getting involved in a game later on.
Obrestad Hits a Full House
We caught the action on the river with a board reading 
. The player in the small blind checked to Annette Obrestad in middle position and she fired out a bet of 3,600 into the 4,150 pot. Her opponent didn't take too long to call but simply mucked after Obrestad turned over 
for a full house. With that pot, Obrestad increased her stack to around 31,000, just slightly over the starting stack.

"Can I See?"
Just before the level-up, Shaun Deeb raised to 250 under the gun and received calls from Seat 5 and the big blind. The flop came down 
and the big blind checked to Deeb, who bet 525. Seat 5 called while the big blind chose to get out of the way.
The dealer burned and turned the 
and Deeb led out for a bet of 1,200. Once again Seat 5 just called and the 
appeared on the river. Deeb didn't slow down and bet 2,700, which sent his opponent into the tank. After a few minutes, he slide his cards in the muck. "Can I see?" he asked Deeb.
"No," was the simple response as Deeb raked in the chips and added 1,750 to his stack.
Madsen in Love
Action folded to the player on the button and he raised to 375. Jeff Madsen was in the small blind and three-bet to 1,300. After the big blind folded, the button player made the call.
The flop came down 
with Madsen first to act. He fired out 1,925 and his opponent thought for a bit before folding. Give this one to Madsen.
Former World Champs in Action
2003 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Chris Moneymaker has taken a seat in the tournament, as has 2004 winner Greg Raymer. We'll have to wait and see if they can add an NAPT title to their résumé.
Hoivold Pushes Back
Andreas Hoivold raised to 375 from middle position and action folded to the player in the small blind. He decided to reraise to 1,075 and Hoivold was the only one to make the call. Both players checked the 
flop and the 
appeared on the turn.
The small blind bet 500 and Hoivold instantly raised to 2,000. The small blind called and then fired out 6,000 when the 
hit the river. Hoivold wasted no time in grabbing a stack of chips and firing a raise to 16,000! The small blind seemed dejected and tossed his cards in the muck. Hoivold had dipped a little but with that win he is up to around 33,000.
Mizzi Out
We didn't get all of the details, but from what we can piece together here is how Sorel Mizzi was eliminated from the tournament.
On an ace-high flop, Mizzi led for a bet and was called by his opponent in Seat 1, who happened to hold 
. Mizzi then led on the 
turn and was once again called. When a hit the river, Mizzi led out for all his chips and Seat 1 made the call to take down the pot with two pair. We never did see Mizzi's cards; nonetheless, he is gone from the NAPT Los Angeles Main Event.
Painter Checks Back Turn, Raises River
After a player raised to 600 from under the gun, Jameson Painter reraised from middle position to 1,625. Only the original raiser made the call and the two saw the flop come down 
. The first player checked and Painter fired 2,500. His opponent called.
The turn added the 
to the board and both players checked. The river completed the board with the 
and the first player fired 3,000. Painter raised to 9,000 and his opponent folded, giving Painter the pot.
