Hellmuth Upset with Baldwin

The board read {Q-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} between recent bracelet winner Eric "basebaldy" Baldwin and eleven-time bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth. Baldwin fired a bet of 8,700 and Hellmuth made the call. Hellmuth had been very respectful all day of Baldwin's play and even mentioned that he could be one of the best in the world if he plays as well as he has during this tournament all the time.

After the river fell the {4-Hearts}, Baldwin fired 10,200. Hellmuth made the call as Layne Flack watched over his shoulder. Baldwin turned over {8-Diamonds} {5-Spades} and Hellmuth shot up out of his chair with his cards in hand. He shuffled them back and forth, showing Flack that he held {Q-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. "I almost moved in on the turn." he said.

Hellmuth mucked and as the pot was pushed towards Baldwin he said, "I've waited all day to play a pot with you, all day."

Hellmuth dropped to 35,000 while Baldwin moved up to 300,000.

Stewart Building Nicely on Day 3

Scott "yaboystu" Stewart from Day 2
Scott "yaboystu" Stewart from Day 2
Scott "yaboystu" Stewart raised from early position to 5,000 and was called in two spots. First, Charlie Hook called in middle position and then, Jon Favaloro called on the button.

The flop came down {J-Hearts} {5-Hearts} {4-Spades}. Stewart fired a continuation bet of 10,500 and only Hook came along.

The turn was the {2-Hearts} and action was checked by both players. The river was the {3-Diamonds} and again, action was checked by both players.

Stewart revealed {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades} to scoop the pot as Hook mucked his hand. Stewart began the day with 30,500 chips, but has built his stack all the way up to about 165,000 after this pot. Hook dropped to 85,000.

Hellmuth Smashed on the River in Crucial Pot

Phil Hellmuth has been proudly boasting of how he has only been at risk one time in the tournament. That time was earlier today when his pocket jacks were up against Tristan Wade's {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. Hellmuth survived that confrontation and has been admittedly waiting patiently for another spot.

A large outburst came from Table 6 as Hellmuth jumped from his chair and let the entire room know he was all in again. "Hold up one time baby!" he pleaded.

Three players had their cards face up in the middle of the table preflop including Hellmuth. John Venturini held {A-Clubs} {K-Clubs} and Jonathan Lessin held {K-Spades} {K-Hearts}, but Hellmuth had both of them crushed holding {A-Hearts} {A-Spades}.

The first three cards to hit the felt were {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} {9-Clubs}, keeping Hellmuth in the lead. "Hold up!" he yelled, "Come on!"

The dealer burned and dealt the {10-Clubs} on the turn. "Oh no, don't do it!" said Phil as he knew that card brought a lot more outs against him.

A small crowd gathered around the table and the dealer dealt the river card... {K-Diamonds}! With the case king hitting the end of the board, Hellmuth stormed off down the aisle of tables, ranting and raving about the beat he just took. He even whipped his hat into the wall on the side of the room.

All was not lost though for Hellmuth. Lessin had the least amount of chips and Hellmuth claimed the side pot between himself and Venturini. When it was all over with, Hellmuth broke just about even as he was left with 31,000 chips.

Mizrachi Gets Crazy On Zachary

Action checked around on the flop of {A-Clubs} {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} between Robert Mizrachi, Zachary "CrazyZachary" Clark and one other player. The turn brought the {8-Hearts} and Mizrachi checked. Clark fired 9,800 from his stack of about 140,000. The next player folded before MIzrachi check-raised to 44,800. Clark made the call.

The river brought the {5-Hearts}, pairing the board and completing a possible flush draw. Mizrachi grabbed a stack of chips and jammed them into the middle of the felt. The total bet was for 90,500. Clark took about ten seconds before announcing a call.

Immediately after hearing the word "call" from Clark's mouth, Mizrachi flung over {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} for a full house. Clark mucked his hand and began to count out the chips to pay off Mizrachi.

At last count, Mizrachi had 400,000 chips, but now is crushing the competition even more with 540,000. Clark dropped to 40,000.

Le Doubles Through Favaloro

Jon Favaloro called Joe Le's all-in bet as everyone was leaving the tournament room for break. Favaloro held {A-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} against Le's {A-Spades} {Q-Clubs}.

The board ran out {10-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {2-Spades} {J-Clubs} {Q-Clubs}, ending with Le holding a flush and doubling up. He was all in for 64,100 and doubled to around 130,000. Favaloro slipped to 148,000.
