Travis Rice Eliminated in 16th Place ($18,430)

Travis Rice - 16th Place
Travis Rice - 16th Place
Under the gun, Charlie Hook made it 15,000 to play, and Brandon Hall three-bet it up to 46,000. Next to speak was Travis "TravestyFund" Rice, and he announced an all in for right around 200,000. That was enough to fold Hook, but Hall quickly made the call with his big stack to put the 2007 Aruba Poker Classic champion in danger of elimination.

Showdown
Hall: {Q-Hearts} {Q-Clubs}
Rice: {A-Hearts} {10-Hearts}

The board was of no help to Rice as the dealer ran it out {9-Spades} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {9-Hearts}. Hall's queens hold up to take down that pot, sending Rice to the exit in 15th place.

For Hall, those additional chips have moved him into the overall lead, sitting now just shy of the million-chip mark.

The last hand before break:

James Mordue opened with an under-the-gun raise to 16,000, and Jose Santos announced a re-raise to 80,000. Action came to Chase Steely in the big blind, and he moved all in for 228,000 total. Mordue quickly ducked out, but Santos instantly called with the covering stack.

Showdown
Santos: {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs}
Steely: {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts}

Steely stood from his chair, clearly nervous for his survival as he mumbled something about how good Santos has been running. Not to worry for Steely though as he would survive on a board reading {7-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} {2-Spades} {7-Hearts} {J-Clubs}. With everyone already out of the room on break, Steely let out a quiet celebration as he pulled in those double up chips to move up close to a half-million in chips.

Eric 'basebaldy' Baldwin - 880,000
John Clancy - 875,000
Robert Mizrachi - 810,000

Hook Catches Two Pair to Double Up

Charlie Hook raised to 20,000 before Ryan Schmidt reraised to 62,000. Action went back over to Hook and he moved all in for 284,000 total. Schmidt made the call, although he didn't look too happy about doing so.

Hook tabled {A-Diamonds} {K-Hearts} against Schmidt's pocket eights -- {8-Hearts} {8-Clubs}.

Hook caught an ace on the flop and a king on the turn as the board ran out {A-Clubs} {7-Spades} {6-Hearts} {K-Spades} {4-Diamonds}. He now has around 550,000 chips while Schmidt dropped over half his stack and is left with 250,000.

Bink!

Matt Ross
Matt Ross
Max Greenwood and Matt Ross got tangled up in a big preflop pot, ending with all of Ross' 300,000 chips going into the middle of the table. Greenwood looked him up with {J-Spades} {J-Clubs}, and Ross was in a bad way with {8-Diamonds} {8-Clubs}.

Not to worry.

Right in the door came the {8-Hearts}, and Ross immediately shot out of his chair yelling, "Da! Da! Daaaa!" In the end, the board ran {3-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} {K-Spades} {2-Clubs}, securing Ross a come-from-behind double up. He's up over 600,000 now, leaving Greenwood with just over 100,000.
