Cellery Takes One from November Niner

Chris Cellery and John Racener saw the flop of {7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}. Cellery check-called a bet from Racener worth 575 chips. The turn brought the {J-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the {8-Hearts} fall on the river. Cellery fired 1,000 and Racener mucked, dropping to 43,250. Cellery moved up to 30,000. It's not often you get to play with a member of the November Nine and Cellery took full advantage of this one, winning the first pot between the two.

Marcus Dodges One

Van Marcus
Van Marcus

Van Marcus bet the turn on a board of {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. The bet was enough to put his opponent all in and the player called with the {K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} for a pair and a flush draw. Marcus held the {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}. The river was the {8-Clubs} and Marcus won the pot, moving up to 48,000 in chips.

Friendly Banter

You hear all different kinds of banter in a poker tournament and it all gets a little crazier when you travel to different parts of the world. Here are some of the things we've heard said today.

"Why couldn't you let me in there? I'd have been on you like a priest on a little boy!"

"He's Italian, they haven't landed on the moon yet. The French have though."

"So you, you and you are all Romanian? Now I know I have a table full of fish!"

As is most banter at the poker table, all of this has been said in good natured and with plenty of laughs. We'll just have to wait and see who's chips do the most talking though as the day moves on.

Folding the Nuts On the Turn in Hold'em

There was another crazy situation over on Van Marcus' table that had him going kind of crazy after he witnessed what happened. We don't have the exact information, but we have the gist of the story.

On the turn, three players were involved in a pot with the board reading {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. The first player bet, and the next player raised. Ilir Beluli, who is a Melbourne boy and here with Marcus, moved all in. The original bettor called all in and then the other player in the hand mucked. WHat did he muck? Well, just the old {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the nut straight with one card to come! According to the player, he didn't want to give a freeroll to a player holding the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}.

Beluli did indeed hold the {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs} and the other player held the {K-Hearts}{J-Spades}. The river was the {9-Hearts} and the two remaining players in the hand chopped up the pot.

Marcus couldn't believe what had happened and tried to get the floor in on it. The floor said, "I like the play, he read the situation right."

Marcus responded, "Where are you from, mate? You've gotta be from Bellagio!"

Chouity Lays It Down

Nicolas Chouity
Nicolas Chouity

Nicolas Chouity fired 650 on the flop of {A-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Clubs}. His lone opponent in the hand called and off to the turn they went, where the {3-Spades} fell. Both players checked to see the {7-Diamonds} fall on the river. Chouity checked and his opponent fired 1,000. Chouity folded and dropped back to 29,200.

Cemisovs Playing with the Big Boys

John Racener fired 800 on the turn into a pot of 950 with the board reading {A-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}. Jegors Cemisovs made it 2,000 and the next player in the hand folded. Racener also folded and Cemisovs scooped this pot.

Cemisovs was extremely excited to see PokerNews here the other day and asked us to take his photo in one of the side events. We did so and Cemisovs was very grateful, sending the photo along to his family back home. He mentioned that PokerNews is his favorite poker website and that's something we love to hear.

What's even better now for Cemisovs is that he gets to play with Racener who is a member of the WSOP November Nine and one of the best players in the world. Things are turning out to be great for Cemisovs here in Cyprus. We wish him the best.

One for Racener Before Dinner

John Racener
John Racener

John Racener raised to 500 for the second hand in a row. The player on the button reraised to 1,500. Jegors Cemisovs was in the big blind and asked to see the stack size of the player on the button. He then made the call. Racener took a moment, but called as well.

The flop came down {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} and all three players checked. The turn card brought the {5-Spades} and Cemisovs fired 2,000. Racener raised to 5,500 and both his opponents quickly folded.

Yamin Rebuys

Kfir Yamin may have lost in the High Roller Freeze-Out, but one good thing about poker is that there's always another game and another tournament to get into. Yamin is now playing the Main Event here, but just lost his first bullet.

Yamin fired 2,000 on the flop of {7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}. His opponent raised to 5,500 and then Yamin almost immediately jammed all of his chips into the middle. His opponent immediately called. Yamin held the {A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and his opponent the {K-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

The turn was the {2-Clubs} and the river the {10-Clubs}. Yamin lost all of his chips on the hand, but still was able to use his rebuy. He's back on 20,000 with his final bullet.
