Lai Needs a Miracle

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Ben Lai
Ben Lai

Zifeng Zhang jammed the small blind for 455,000 and Ben Lai called from the big blind.

Zifeng Zhang: {k-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Ben Lai: {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

On a board of {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{q-Clubs}, Zhang hit running clubs for a four-card flush to double and Lai was down to one 5,000 chip and forced all-in.

Sun Guodong then raised to 90,000 and Jun Obara called in the big blind. Obara check-called a bet of 90,000 on the {k-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} flop, the {3-Clubs} turn and {5-Hearts} river were checked. Lai tabled {8-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} for trips, Obara had {a-Clubs}{10-Spades} and Guodong the {4-Spades}{4-Clubs} to win the side pot.

Lai won his next all-in as well to remain in contention.

Siow Folds to Hong; Lai Doubles

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Ben Lai was all-in for 190,000 with the {5-Spades}{5-Clubs} against the {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs} of Kannapong Thanarattrakul and the {j-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades} board gave Lai a full house.

Over on the other table, Graeme Siow was involved in a pot with Nan Hong and had one third of his stack invested to the {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}{8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} river. He checked and Hong used one time bank before leading 280,000, Siow folded.

Thanarattrakul Busts and Wu Doubles in Dramatic Fashion

Level 17 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante
Kannapong Thanarattrakul
Kannapong Thanarattrakul

Jun Obara raised to 85,000 and Kannapong Thanarattrakul moved all in for 580,000. Yake Wu went all in over the top and Obara snap-called. Fei Xiong had raised over on the other table and faced a shove, hence the showdown did not proceed yet as it would be the possible money bubble. Xiong used one time bank and folded, the cards were then turned over on table one.

Kannapong Thanarattrakul: {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}
Yake Wu: {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
Jun Obara: {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades}

The {10-Spades}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop brought no upset yet while Wu picked up a gutshot on the {k-Spades} turn. The rail exploded when the {j-Hearts} fell on the river as Wu hit a straight and survived the bubble. Thanarattrakul was eliminated and Wu doubled for 1,290,000 through Obara.
