Bin Sun Wins the ₩10,000,000 Super High Roller

Welcome to one of the first events which the PokerNews live reporting team will be covering in 2020 here at PokerStars LIVE Manila. At 5 p.m. local time, the cards should go in the air for one of the first marquee events of the festival, the ₱500,000 Super High Roller at the inaugural Red Dragon Manila which will take place in the beautiful Coral Lounge in the stunning Okada Manila.

Bin Sun won the ₩10,000,000 Super High Roller in Jeju (₩220,295,000) which equaled around US$189,450 at the time. Day 1 in Jeju attracted 75 entries and another 16 entered on Day 2 due to the unlimited re-entry format. The tournament in Manila also offers players the chance to reenter an unlimited amount of times for the ₱500,000 (~US$9,858) buy-in but late reg is only possible until the end of Level 10 with 12 levels on the schedule for Day 1.

Each level lasts 40 minutes and a shot clock will be in play from the start. Players will receive 250,000 in chips in their start stack with 4 time bank cards worth 30 seconds each. Another two will be handed out at the start of Day 2 with two more given to the players who reach the final table.

A 15-minute break has been scheduled after every three levels in this two-day event with Day 2 scheduled to start at 1 p.m. local time on Sunday, January 5.

In Jeju the Super High Roller was scheduled for the end of the festival while here in Manila it's one of the first, who knows how many players will show up for the first-ever Red Dragon Manila Super High Roller. But the PokerNews live reporting team will be on the floor to bring you all the action from hot and humid Manila!

Ma Chips Up Immediately

Level 1 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante
Weihao Ma
Weihao Ma

In what looked like a raised and three-bet pot, the flop read {4-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}. Weihao Ma bet 25,000 from the big blind and was called by Kirk Steele on the button.

The turn brought them the {2-Clubs} and Ma continued with a bet of 50,000 which Steele called quite quickly.

The river completed the board with the {q-Spades} and Ma fired another bet over the line, this time for 55,000. Steele made the call. Ma hesitated for a bit, seemingly confused if it was a call or raise. The dealer and Daniel William indicated that it was a call and that Ma could turn over his cards. Ma nodded and gingerly turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} for the overpair of aces and that was more than enough to get Steele to muck his hand.

The board read {3-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} with 95,000 in the middle already. Ryan Yu had checked in the hijack and Kirk Steele bet 60,000 from the cutoff. Yu called to see the river which was the {6-Diamonds}.

Yu quickly checked again for Steele to shove. Yu asked for a count and the dealer confirmed Steele had 85,000 behind. Yu took some time and then made the call. Steele tabled {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for the turned set of fives and Yu flicked his cards into the muck and paid up. The dealer also asked him for two time banks as he seemed to have used them during the hand.

Weihao Ma
Weihao Ma

The board read {3-Spades}{7-Spades}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs}{q-Hearts} with almost 200,000 in the middle.

Weihao Ma bet 100,000 in the small blind and Huidong Gu quickly folded his hijack while Lei Yu shoved from the cutoff. Ma asked for a count and the dealer confirmed it was 102,000 more as Yu had 202,000 behind. Ma took a few seconds and then made the call but mucked when Yu tabled {a-Spades}{2-Spades} for the flopped nut-flush.

The hand after, Darren Chan had raised from the cutoff and Ma was all-in on the button for 3,000. Mike Takayama called the raise of Chan.

They both checked through the {q-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Spades} flop and the {k-Spades} on the turn to the {3-Spades} on the river. Takayama bet 10,000 for Chan to fold. Takayama had {7-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for the missed flush draw and Ma quickly sat back down as he held {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for the turned straight to stay alive.

Yufei Hui
Yufei Hui

Yufei Hui raised to 11,000 from the hijack and was called by Kirk Steele in the cutoff while the rest of the table folded.

The flop came {9-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}, Hui check-called the 15,000 bet of Steele.

The turn brought them the {7-Clubs} and Hui checked again. Steele now fired a bet of 60,000 over the line. Hui tanked, used a time bank and then made the call.

The {6-Clubs} completed the board on the river. Hui checked for the last time. Steele shoved for around 210,000 and Hui looked at his hole cards and the board again to check what he held before quickly making the call with {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} for the runner-runner flush. Steele pushed his cards over the line and the dealer revealed Steele held {10-Hearts}{9-Spades} for the flopped two pair as he made his way out of the tournament area. Both stacks were counted just to be sure Hui had him covered which was indeed the case.
