Salim Metina Eliminated in 40th Place ($15,693)

Salim Metina has been eliminated from the tournament by Poker Battle representative Patryk Hildebranski. All of the money went in preflop and Metina found himself dominated holding {A-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds} against Hildebranski's {A-Spades} {Q-Hearts}.

The board blanked out king-high and Patryk's ace-queen high was good enough to take down the pot.

Metina will take home $15,693 in prize money for his efforts.

Stephane Liger Eliminated in 39th Place ($15,693)

We eavesdrop on a hotly-contested preflop pot over on the middle table nearest us. There is an opening raise to 15,000, followed by a call. A third player joins the hand, reraising to 55,000, prompting an all in from Stephane Liger, who holds {A-?} {K-?}. He is looked up by his opponent, showing down {K-?} {K-?} and putting Liger in serious danger of being eliminated.

Much to his chagrin, the board runs out dry for him, coming {Q-?} {3-?} {10-?} {3-?} {9-?}, and sending Stephane Liger to the cashier's desk early to collect his 39th place money.

One of the players mixed up in the preflop battle told us he folded pocket tens.

Double-Ups! Get Your Double-Ups!

We join the action on the flop in a heads-up pot with more than 160,000 chips already in the center. The board shows {K-Hearts} {5-Diamonds} {7-Diamonds}. Patrice Sitbon checks to his opponent, and Willy Korchia moves all in for 188,100. Sitbon goes deep into the think tank, pondering his options as he counts his chips and re-checks his cards. After five minutes or more, he finally says, "Okay," as he pushes the call into the middle.

Korchia tables his {K-Spades} {Q-Hearts}, and it's the leading hand versus Sitbon's {10-Spades} {10-Clubs}. The turn and river fail to find Sitbon, coming {8-Hearts} and {6-Clubs} respectively. Sitbon grants another double up, and finds himself bleeding chips here in the early going. He has fallen all the way back into the 300,000-chip range after starting the day as the commanding chip leader.

Robert Mizrachi Moves into the Chip Lead

Robert Mizrachi just took a nice pot from Fabrice Nkoa to move into the overall tournament chip lead.

On a board showing {Q-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {3-Hearts} {2-Hearts}, the eldest Mizrachi brother check-called a 25,000 bet from Nkoa. The river brought the {Q-Spades} and Mizrachi check-called another Nkoa bet, this time for 100,000.

At the showdown, Nkoa tabled a pocket pair of eights and was one-upped by Mizrachi who revealed pocket tens.

The pot hoisted Robert past Patrice Sitbon into the overall tournament chip lead with 890,000.

Arnaud Mattern Eliminated in 37th Place ($15,693)

Poker Pro Arnaud Mattern has just been eliminated from the main event -- the result of back-to-back hands, each involving pocket jacks.

The first of which saw Mattern lose a race holding ace-king against the pocket jacks of Pierre Ayme. All of the money went in preflop and the board ran out {6-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {Q-Diamonds} {5-Spades} {4-Spades} giving Ayme two pair and the win. That hand left Mattern with just 30,000 in chips.

Moments later, Arnaud moved all in from the small blind holding six-seven offsuit and was called by Sebastian Austy who held -- you guessed it -- pocket jacks. Unable to draw out on Austy's superior hand, Mattern ended up our 37th place finisher.

Hildebranski Lays One Down

Christophe Drahe opens with a raise to 16,500, and Patryk Hildebranski reraises to 55,000 from the cutoff. Not to be outdone, the player on the button moves all in for a total of 155,900. Drahe asks for a count, then folds.

Hildebranski is not so quick to back down though. "Ohhh, what did I get myself into? F**k!" he mumbles, letting out a big sigh. "You have pockets? If you have pockets, I call you," he says, trying to draw a reaction from his stone-faced opponent. Hildebranski waves his hand in front of his opponent's eyes, earning just a slight smile. "Hello? You have the nuts?" he asks. Finally, he does indeed fold, sending a nice pot over to the other player without ever seeing a flop.

"I had ace-king," said Hildebranski after the hand, trying to bluff the table.

"Come on, you're not folding ace-king there ever," someone said from the other end of the table.

"You're right. I had a good ace though. Ace-ten. Going crazy with ace-ten."

Philippe Rottemberg Eliminated in 36th Place ($19,260)

They're dropping like flies here in the early hours of Day 3 play. Our latest casualty is Philippe Rottemberg who was sent packing by Pierre Ayme.

Rottemberg moved all in before the flop holding a pocket pair of twos and Ayme made the call with ace-king offsuit.

The {8-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} {A-Spades} {9-Spades} {Q-Hearts} board fell in favor of Ayme who took down the pot with two pair, aces and queens.

Rottemberg received $19,260 in prize money for his 36th place finish.

Three-Way Action

Noah Schwartz has just been crippled in a big three-way pot. We pick up the action on the turn with the board showing {2-Hearts} {10-Hearts} {6-Spades} {9-Clubs}. A betting and raising war breaks out between Alain Roy, Noah Schwartz, and Fabrice Nkoa. In the end, Roy is all in against Nkoa, with Schwartz saying he has two pair as he folds.

Nkoa shows {A-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds} but is already drawing dead versus Roy, who flopped a set with {6-Hearts} {6-Diamonds}.

After the hand, Schwartz walked over to the adjacent table where he found his friend Patryk Hildebranski. "Cooler city over here bro. Cooler city." He recited the story for Patryk, looking for a little sympathy. After folding with most of his chips in the pot, Schwartz is left with just 40,000 to play with.
