"Do You Need Something to Drink?"

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante
Veli-Pekka Alakorva
Veli-Pekka Alakorva

Veli-Pekka Alakorva bet 2,500 into a pot of a bit more after the {7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} came on the flop and got a call from Karl-Joonatan Mets.

Alakorva, who is known for his table talk, said loudly: "No Diamond!"

No diamond came on the turn as it was the {q-Clubs} and Alakorva fired out for 6,000. Mets paused for 40 seconds before he called.

A diamond came next with the {8-Diamonds} completing the board on the river. Alakorva fired out 17,000 which barely covered Mets.

"Do you need something to drink?" Alakorva asked in jest after his opponent appeared to be thinking about whether to call off.

"I put on my sunglasses," Alakorva said a few moments later.

"I don't think I can fold," Mets said to Alakorva.

"So call," Alakorva said.

"You don't mind?" Mets asked before he added "I can't fold."

Mets called and turned over {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs} for two-pair which beat Alakorva's top pair with {q-Hearts}{j-Spades}.

Very Romantic Hand

Level 5 : 150/300, 300 ante

Not the biggest hand of the day, but one that was enjoyed by the table. Except maybe by Kevin Hox.

Hox was down to five big blinds and jammed with {q-Clubs}{10-Hearts} from middle position. Andres Allsalu made the call with {6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}.

It appeared like Hox's short stack would double up after the {8-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{q-Spades} paired him up and with his opponent needing a pair of runners.

However, the {6-Hearts} came on the turn followed by the {9-Hearts} on the river and Allsalu improved to two pair.

After the hand, someone at the table, "Ohhh, sixty-nine!"

"Very romantic," Allsalu said which got a big laugh from the entire table before he added, "Maybe it's because I'm French."

Tarmi Takes One Out

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Roope Tarmi
Roope Tarmi

Roope Tarmi opened to 1,000 from the button and one of his opponents jammed for 7,400 from the small blind.

Tarmi snap-called and turned over {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs} and was in good shape after his opponent turned over {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

Tarmi's opponent was out the door after the {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{4-Clubs}{6-Clubs} board was unable to help and said "nice call" to Tarmi on the way out.

Berndtson's Blocker Bluff Fails

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante
Sergei Istsenko
Sergei Istsenko

There was already a sizable pot brewing between Touko Berndtson and Sergei Istsenko when action was on the latter. The board was completed with {8-Hearts}{j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Istsenko bet 10,000, Berndtson check-raised all in for 46,200, and Istsenko called it off after some thought.

Berndtson, defeated, flipped {a-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} open on the felt for just the ace of hearts. Istsenko tabled {k-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for the king-high flush to soar to 150,000 in chips.

"Good bluff," Istsenko complimented Berndtson in an unsarcastic way. Good bluff or not, the bold attempt had failed and Berndston bought himself back in for another attempt.

Century Mark

Level 6 : 200/400, 400 ante

The PAPC Main Event field has grown to 105 entrants with 72 still remaining in their seats. This number will surely continue to grow as unlimited re-entries are permitted until the late-registration period closes after the conclusion of the first blind level on Day 2.

Chino Rheem

Chino Rheem arrived in Tallinn yesterday and has joined the PAPC Main Event fashionably late.

Regardless of when Rheem joins he is a force to be reckoned with. He likely has the most live tournament cashes of anyone in the field with nearly $11 million according to The Hendon Mob. This includes five separate scores of at least $1 million.
