The game has switched back to limit hold'em, prompting a flurry of substituations. But on the last hand of no-limit hold'em, Team Greece was eliminated from the captains' table by Team Vietnam. Team Greece got the chips in with {Q-} {J-} on a jack-high flop. Men "the Master" Nguyen, the captain of Team Vietnam, called with {A-} {J-}, the same pair of jacks but a better kicker. The board blanked out, eliminating Team Greece from the feature table.

Cheerleaders

Team Australia, down to one table left, clustered around their chosen champion, Jeff Lisandro, and led a few rousing renditions of "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, Oy, Oy, Oy".

Mike Matusow, not to be outdone, stood up from his table and tried to lead the crowd in some pro-American cheers.

Grind It Out

We feel like we're still a long, long way from determining the final table of this event. There are still at least six players at each of the five tables in action. Perhaps when the game gets back around to Pot-Limit Omaha the pace of play -- and the eliminations -- will pick up.

Team USA Takes a Hit

Jennifer Harman
Jennifer Harman

Jen Harman is one of the world's top limit hold'em players, but she had a very short stack to work with at the feature table. She got that short stack in the middle holding {A-} {6-} on a {k-} {k-} {4-} flop. Team China's Johnny Chan called Harman with a better ace, {A-} {9-}. The board blanked out {2-} and {Q-} to eliminate Team USA from the captains' table.

Not to worry for Team USA. Harman's limit hold'em skills are so strong the she is being substituted back into the game in place of Erik Seidel at one of the outer rtables.

Pot-Limit Insanity Begins

We had another break in there for about ten minutes. Now the blinds are up to 150 and 300 and the game has switched to PLO. Previously that was heralded by a "sexy" referee with a dry-erase board. I didn't see one of those this time around.

Gary Benson has subbed into the lone Team Australia spot for the PLO round.

At one of the other outer tables, Team China out-flopped Team Greece, making kings and eights against Team Greece's pocket aces. Kings and eights held up for Team China to give them a strong double-up.

Hanging On

Team Australia just took down a four-way pot after the flop. The lone chip stack for the Aussies, being played at the moment by Gary Benson, is still hanging in there.

Mikey Likes It

He likes it! Mikey likes it! Mike Matusow just watched his friend and teammate Chris Ferguson hand Team England it's first elimination at Outer Table 2 during the PLO round. In addition to being Team England's first elimination, it was also the first elimination of any team at Ferguson's table.

On an outer table on the other side of the room, Chau Giang took the fall for Team China, as that team suffered its first elimination as well. Team Brazil is now the only team with players still in action on all five tables.
