The Money Bubble Will Burst on Day 3 in Sochi

Anatoly Filatov among big stacks heading into Day 3
Anatoly Filatov among big stacks heading into Day 3

After three live and one online starting days and yesterday's Day 2 of the 2018 partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Russia RUB318,000 Main Event, a field of 916 entries emerged at the Sochi Casino and Resort and 200 hopefuls remain in contention for the top prize of RUB60,000,000 and trophy that comes along with it.

Almost half of the remaining field will be left without anything to show for, as just 119 players will take home a portion of the prize pool. At the top of the counts is Russia's Aleksandr Denisov with an impressive 19,035,000, followed by fellow countrymen Aleksei Istomin with 15,355,000 and Oleg Netaliev with 14,630,000. The top 12 in the counts are all from Russia while 2017 MILLIONS Russia Main Event finalist Michael Sklenicka is the first non-Russian speaking player with a decent stack of 9,335,000.

Two partypoker ambassadors are still in contention on Day 3 in Anatoly Filatov (8,240,000) and Philipp Gruissem (4,280,000), and defending champion Aleksandr Gofman is also in the middle of the pack with 4,800,000. Not even one big blind ahead of Gofman is last year's third-place finisher Aleksandr Merzhvinskiy (4,850,000), Vadim Lipovka (7,600,000), and Anatolii Zyrin (3,790,000) is also looking for back-to-back final tables here in Sochi.

Some other notables still in contention include Andrey Kotelnikov (10,280,000), Denis Pisarev (8,800,000), Andrey Pateychuk (8,725,000), Day 1A chip leader Oleksii Kravchuk (7,980,000), Maxim Lykov (6,750,000), Vladimir Shchemelev (6,740,000), Igor Yaroshevskyy (6,535,000), Ionut-Flavius Voinea (5,975,000), and MILLIONS Nottingham champion Maria Lampropulos (3,800,000).

The action resumes with level 17 and blinds of 40,000/80,000 with a button ante of 80,000. A total of eight levels of one hour each are scheduled for Day 3 and the money bubble is expected to burst today. One table off the money, the 30-second shot clock will be introduced and all players will receive an additional six time banks. The live stream of the two feature tables will be available on a security delay of 30 minutes with hole cards displayed and the PokerNews team will be right there to provide all the action of money day in Sochi.

Adams Gets Shove Through

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Timothy Adams
Timothy Adams

With the majority of the field being European players, Timothy Adams is one of the few exceptions. The Canadian player came back for Day three with 25 big blinds and had already found a spot to move all in.

The action folded around to Armen Khachatryan on the button, and he raised to 200,000. Adams was in the small blind and moved all in for 2,000,000. After the player in the big blind folded, Khachatryan contemplated his decision for 30 seconds before he let Adams pick up the pot preflop.

Gofman Doubles Zvorygin; Lampropulos Busts

Level 17 : 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Maria Lampropulos
Maria Lampropulos

Oleg Titov and Maria Lampropulos have been eliminated, while Sergei Zvorygin doubled through defending champion Aleksandr Gofman.

Gofman had raised and called the shove of Zvorygin for 1,020,000 with the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}, facing the {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} of his opponent. The board came {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Zvorygin improved to a full house. Next to Gofman sits Michael Sklenicka, who had also reached the final table of this very event one year ago.

Another MILLIONS champion was even less fortunate in Maria Lampropulos. The Argentinian three-bet all in out of the small blind with {4-Diamonds}{4-Spades} after a button raise by Hadi Khordbin and Maksin Misura in the big blind reshoved with {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} to force out Khordbin. The flip went to Misura, who spiked an ace on the board to eliminate Lampropulos.

Level 18 : 50,000/100,000, 100,000 ante
Jack Sinclair
Jack Sinclair

Said Butba raised to 200,000 and Vladislav Vinagradov three-bet all in for 2,220,000 in the cutoff. Jack Sinclair on the button reshoved all in for 3,860,000 and Roman Zhuravlev in the big blind had a decision to make and folded, then Butba snap-called to see Zhuravlev pat himself on the shoulder and mention in table chat "I folded pocket queens."

Vladislav Vinagradov: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Jack Sinclair: {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}
Said Butba: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}

The board came {5-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Butba scored the double knockout.

Defending Champion Gofman Eliminated

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Aleksandr Gofman
Aleksandr Gofman

The cards of Aleksandr Gofman were already in the muck and Michael Sklenicka confirmed that Gofman had held pocket kings against his {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}. The board of {A-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Spades} gave Sklenicka a pair of Aces and Gofman was left very short.

Soon after, Gofman was all in for the last 380,000 and Maksim Haitsiukevich was at risk for 2,385,000, Pavel Kireev in the small blind had both opponents comfortably covered to create a three-way showdown.

Aleksandr Gofman: {8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}
Maksim Haitsiukevich: {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Pavel Kireev: {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{5-Spades} and Kireev more than doubled, while Gofman's dream to defend the title in Sochi was crushed in brutal fashion. Earlier in the day he had already lost kings to ace-queen as well.

Hakim and Bueker Eliminated Before the Money

Level 19 : 60,000/120,000, 120,000 ante
Dirk Bueker
Dirk Bueker

Jeff Hakim was all in and at risk for around 2.9 million before the flop against Alexey Melnikov.

Jeff Hakim: {A-Spades}{J-Hearts}
Alexey Melnikov: {K-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The board came {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and Hakim failed to get there, he will most likely jump right into the High Roller.

Dirk Bueker had just won a pot off Said Butba, but would soon after bust against the very same opponent. Bueker three-bet against Butba and called the four-bet shove only to get shown the superior pocket pair by the Russian.

Dirk Bueker: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}
Said Butba: {K-Diamonds}{K-Spades}

The board of {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{5-Hearts} brought no miracle and Bueker, who was freerolling the event thanks to the Golden Chip promotion by partypoker, tapped the table with a "good luck everyone" before heading out of the tournament area.

Loeser, Aldemir and Yaroshevskyy All Gone

Level 21 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Koray Aldemir Among Big Name Casualties Just Before the Bubble
Koray Aldemir Among Big Name Casualties Just Before the Bubble

Igor Yaroshevskyy, Koray Aldemir and Manig Loeser participated in the Triton High Roller events and they have something else in common: They just busted before the money when being all in at the same time on three different tables.

Yaroshevskyy had pushed for 3.375 million from the button and Niall Farrell looked him up out of the small blind.

Igor Yaroshevskyy: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
Niall Farrell: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}

The board came {J-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{6-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Yaroshevskyy was the first to go. One table over, Aldemir was awaiting his fate after he had three-bet all in for 2.435 million after a raise by table neighbor Igor Kozhevnikov.

Koray Aldemir: {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}
Igor Kozhevnikov: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}

Despite flopping top pair, Aldemir still needed running outs as the flop came {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{2-Clubs}. The {4-Hearts} turn ensured his elimination and that made the {2-Hearts} river a formality.

Last but not least, it was Loeser that had pushed all in for 1.050 million from the cutoff and it was Pavel Zuev that called on the button, the blinds folded.

Manig Loeser: {k-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Pavel Zuev: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}

Board: {6-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}

Loeser, who cashed in the Triton Super High Roller tournament, earlier this week could not find the board he needed to survive and was sent to the rail just before the money spots.

Farrell Calls Correctly

Level 21 : 80,000/160,000, 160,000 ante
Niall Farrell
Niall Farrell

The board was down {j-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{q-Spades}{2-Hearts}, and Niall Farrell had seen Oleg Netaliev raise his 1.3m bet to 3.5m on the river.

"I have a good hand, but I don't think you are bluffing," said Farrel to the big stack Netaliev.

Farrell thought for another minute before he counted his chips and made the call.

Netaliev tabled {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for two pair, but Farrell won the pot with a better two pair in the form of {a-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Konstantin Puchkov

Konstantin Puchkov moved all in for 1.35 million from early position and Oleksii Kravchuk repushed from the button for more than 4 million. Nikolay Evdokimov claimed after the hand he had folded ace-king in the big blind and that also happened to be the hand Puchkov revealed in the showdown.

Konstantin Puchkov: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}
Oleksii Kravchuk: {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The board came {J-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{2-Spades} and Puchkov failed to improve, as a result he became the bubble boy of the Main Event here in Sochi.
