"rumpthumper" Wins partypoker US Network Online Series Event #1 for $805 ($750 + $55 in Bounties)

Event #1
Event #1

The partypoker US Network Online Series kicked off Monday evening with Event #1: $2,000 GTD NLH Red Chip Bounty. The kickoff event featured a buy-in of $20 with $5 bounties and drew a total of 231 entries, more than doubling its guaranteed prize pool as $4,158 was paid out to the field ($3,003 to the Main Prize Pool and $1,155 in Bounties).

"rumpthumper" was the one to take gold, earning $750 and amassing 10 knockouts as well as their own bounty to bring their total earnings in the tournament to $805. This was not the first bounty event that "rumpthumper" has won in a partypoker US Network Online Series, as they defeated Ryan "Whosyourdoddy" Dodd in a Black Chip Bounty Event one month ago for $6,097.

Dodd was also seen in Event #1, but his luck ran dry shortly before the three-hour registration period closed. When that time came, just four tables remained and it took less than 10 minutes for that number to plummet to 25 and bring about hand-for-hand play as the top 24 finishers were set to make it in the money. The bubble burst shortly thereafter, and it took less than an hour from there for the tournament to reach the final table of nine.

Final Table Action

"rumpthumper" entered the final table bubble in the middle of the pack, but won two consecutive all-ins to double through "Str8crazY" and then eliminate them and take the chip lead into the final table. Three eliminations came quickly, with "cenation", "Retsnom1", and "theMossberg" all earning $127 through some combination of prizes and bounties.

Two levels later, four remained and eventual runner-up "SenorAlto" had taken the chip lead. "SenorAlto" further extended their lead after eliminating "HellHound" in fourth place.

From that point on, however, it was all "rumpthumper." They eliminated "poflatland" in third place and entered heads-up play with a four-to-three deficit. Moments later, that deficit was a lead as "rumpthumper" found themselves with 60% of the chips in play. That number continued to climb until they had all the chips, doing so by way of an all-in preflop situation where their pocket eights held versus ace-seven offsuit.

The tournament took just shy of six hours to play to its completion.

"SenorAlto" Eliminated in 2nd Place ($519 + $30 in Bounties)

"SenorAlto"
"SenorAlto"

In Level 31 with blinds of 35,000/70,000 and an ante of 8,750, all of the chips got in the middle preflop with "SenorAlto" at risk for their tournament life against "rumpthumper," who was in the big blind.

"SenorAlto": {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}
"rumpthumper": {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}

"SenorAlto" got their unpaired ace all in preflop and found it up against a pair of eights, leaving them with just three outs to double and stay alive. None came on the flop {3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{j-Clubs}, and they picked up four more outs to a backdoor gutshot straight draw on the turn {4-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for them, they would get no closer as the river {q-Clubs} finished the runout and thereby the tournament.

"SenorAlto" finished in second place, earning $519 plus $30 from six knockouts, while "rumpthumper" has claimed victory and the accompanying first-place prize of $750. They also knocked 10 players out of the tournament, and will receive their own bounty to make their total bounty prize $55 and bring their overall earnings from the tournament to $805. A full recap of the tournament will be provided shortly.

"poflatland" Eliminated in 3rd Place ($339 + $55 in Bounties)

"poflatland"
"poflatland"

In Level 30 with blinds of 30,000/60,000 and an ante of 7,500, "rumpthumper" opened to 150,000 on the button and "poflatland" defended their big blind. The two players saw a flop of {a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and "poflatland" check-raised a continuation-bet from "rumpthumper" to make it 352,000 to go.

"rumpthumper" came over the top, three-bet jamming for 1.92 million and "poflatland" called all in for less.

"poflatland": {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}
"rumpthumper": {a-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}

A pair of queens came on the turn {q-Spades} and river {q-Hearts} to leave "poflatland" with the second-best hand, resulting in their elimination in third place to earn them $339. They also knocked out 11 players, which is the most of anybody in the tournament to add another $55 to their overall prize.

Meanwhile, the heads-up match between "SenorAlto" and "rumpthumper" began with the former holding roughly a four-to-three chip lead. However, the early moments of the match quickly saw "rumpthumper" turn the tides, amassing a stack of 4.38 million already as "SenorAlto" now has 2.54 million.

"HellHound" Eliminated in 4th Place ($255 + $35 in Bounties)

"HellHound"
"HellHound"

In Level 30 with blinds of 30,000/60,000 and an ante of 7,500, "SenorAlto" opened the action with a raise to 120,000 on the button and "HellHound" called in the small blind. The flop came {k-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs} and "HellHound" checked. "SenorAlto" made a continuation-bet of 247,500 and "HellHound" check-raised all in for 1.045 million. "SenorAlto" called.

"HellHound": {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
"SenorAlto": {k-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

"HellHound" got their stack in with an open-ended straight- and flush draw but was up against the top pair of "SenorAto" and needed to improve beyond it. The turn {2-Spades} cut their number of chances in half, and the river {q-Diamonds} only gave them a pair of queens, falling shy of their opponent's kings to result in their fourth-place finish in the tournament for a total of $290 ($255 in prizes plus $35 in bounties)

"Dirty_Harry6" Eliminated in 5th Place ($187 + $50 in Bounties)

"Dirty_Harry6"
"Dirty_Harry6"

In Level 29 with blinds of 25,000/50,000 and an ante of 6,250, "SenorAlto" jammed for 740,000 in the cutoff and "DirtyHarry" re-jammed for 852,000. Both players in the blinds folded.

"SenorAlto": {k-Clubs}{q-Clubs}
"Dirty_Harry6": {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}

"SenorAlto" was in trouble and the flop {q-Spades}{10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} left them behind. However, the turn {j-Clubs} tremendously increased "SenorAlto's" number of outs. One of those outs connected on the river {9-Diamonds}, giving them a king-high straight to double and leave "Dirty_Harry6" with just 110,000.

"Dirty_Harry6" was able to find a double but then folded through the blinds down to 200,000 and was eliminated by "SenorAlto" just a couple of hands later in fifth place, earning $187 in prizes plus another $50 in bounties.

"JMPoker" Eliminated in 6th Place ($150 + $15 in Bounties)

"JMPoker"
"JMPoker"

In Level 28 with blinds of 20,000/40,000 and an ante of 5,000, "HellHound" limped in on the button and "JMPoker" completed their small blind. Action was then on "poflatland" in the big blind, who raised their option up to 100,000 and saw both players call.

The flop fell {7-Hearts}{5-Spades}{8-Clubs} and "JMPoker" checked. "poflatland" made a continuation-bet of 165,000 and got a fold from "HellHound." "JMPoker" then thought for a bit and check-raised all in for 439,000. "poflatland" quickly called.

"JMPoker": {j-Clubs}{9-Spades}
"poflatland": {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

"JMPoker" saw the bad news as their opponent's aces were tabled and they were in need of hitting one of the eight outs they had with their double-gutshot straight draw. They bricked on both the turn {2-Diamonds} and river {k-Clubs} and were eliminated in sixth place, earning $150 for their finish with another $15 from three bounties adding to that total.

"theMossberg" Eliminated in 7th Place ($117 + $10 in Bounties)

"theMossberg"
"theMossberg"

In Level 27 with blinds of 18,000/36,000 and an ante of 4,500, "HellHound" shoved for 121,000 in middle position and received a call from "JMPoker" in the hijack. "poflatland" then three-bet to 537,000 in the cutoff to put action onto "theMossberg," who was on the button and called all in for 472,000. "JMPoker" folded and a three-way all in ensued.

"HellHound": {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}
"theMossberg": {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds}
"poflatland": {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}

A double-knockout and big chip lead was in the forecast for "poflatland" but a miracle flop of {8-Spades}{j-Clubs}{j-Spades} came for "HellHound" instead. The turn {10-Hearts} gave "theMossberg" life with a backdoor gutter to Broadway, but the river {8-Spades} did not fulfill the draw.

"HellHound" wound up quadrupling and then some with their full house, while "poflatland" took down the side pot to eliminate "theMossberg" from the tournament in seventh place. They earned $117 for their efforts and got another $10 from two knockouts.

"Retsnom1" Eliminated in 8th Place ($87 + $40 in Bounties)

"Retsnom1"
"Retsnom1"

In the last hand of Level 26 with blinds of 16,000/32,000 and an ante of 4,000, "Retsnom1" shoved for 144,000 in early position and received a call from "JMPoker" in the small blind.

"Retsnom1": {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}
"JMPoker": {k-Spades}{q-Hearts}

It was a coin-flip situation and "Retsnom1" needed to improve to stay in the tournament. They did not do so as the runout fell {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} to leave them unimproved and second best to the sixes that "JMPoker" held. They earned $87 for their eighth-place finish, and scored eight bounties to add another $40 to that tally.

In Level 26 with blinds of 16,000/32,000 and an ante of 4,000, "rumpthumper" opened the action with a raise to 80,000 in middle position and "cenation" three-bet jammed for 289,000. "rumpthumper" called.

"cenation": {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
"rumpthumper": {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

"cenation" was ahead until an ace came on the flop {8-Spades}{a-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and they were unable to find a two-outer on both the turn {3-Spades} and river {7-Hearts} to result in them taking ninth place for a payday of $127, split nearly 50-50 between prize money and the 12.5 knockouts they amassed over the course of the tournament.

"rumpthumper" Wins Two Against "Str8crazY" To Bring About the Final Table

"Str8crazY"
"Str8crazY"

Hand #1: On the last hand of Level 25 with blinds of 14,000/28,000 and an ante of 3,500, "Str8crazY" raised to 84,000 under the gun and action folded around to "rumpthumper" in the small blind, who three-bet shoved for 767,000. "Str8crazY" quickly called.

"rumpthumper": {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
"Str8crazY": {8-Spades}{8-Clubs}

Both players hit sets as the board ran out {5-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}, leaving "rumpthumper" to sweat a perfect-perfect runout en route to a double.

"rumpthumper"
"rumpthumper"

Hand #2: On the very next hand and the first hand of Level 26 (16,000,32,000/4,000), action folded around to "rumpthumper" on the button and they jammed all in. "Str8crazY" called off their remaining 10 big blinds and the two were off to the races.

"Str8crazY": {a-Spades}{4-Hearts}
"rumpthumper": {3-Hearts}{3-Spades}

"Str8crazY" picked up a few extra outs on the turn but ultimately fell short as the board came {10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} to leave them with nothing more than ace-high, which was no good to the pair of threes that "rumpthumper" held. They were eliminated from the tournament in 10th place, bringing about the final table, one that "rumpthumper" now enters with a sizeable chip lead.
