"The_Tuz99" Toasted

"The_Tuz99"
"The_Tuz99"

In Level 7 with blinds of 600/1,200 and an ante of 150, "BlackCofee" opened to 2,600 in early position and "The_Tuz99" three-bet jammed for 19,000 in the cutoff. Action folded back to "BlackCoffee" and they called.

"The_Tuz99": {k-Clubs}{j-Spades}
"BlackCoffee": {k-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

"The_Tuz99" needed help and found some on the flop {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}. Despite hitting top pair, they still needed to fade eight outs to Broadway plus three more to a better pair. The turn {j-Hearts} gave them trips, eliminating three outs from the tally, but it proved to be for naught as the river {a-Diamonds} completed Broadway for "BlackCoffee" and earned them the pot.

"The_Tuz99" found themselves out of chips and facing a countdown to rebuy before being bounced from the tournament. The clock ran out and their name was added to the list of eliminations for the tournament, becoming the fifth player to do so for the level.

In Level 8 with blinds of 700/1,400 and an ante of 175, there was 7,700 in the middle from preflop action after "Bond18" opened in the cutoff and "Chil57" defended their big blind. Action went heads up to a flop of {2-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs} and "Chil57" checked. "Bond18" made a continuation-bet for half of the pot and "Chil57" called.

The turn came {10-Diamonds} and "Chil57" checked again. "Bond18" made a pot-sized bet of 15,400 and "Chil57" called all in for less, totaling 12,800.

"Chil57": {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
"Bond18": {5-Hearts}{5-Spades}

"Chil57" needed an ace or nine for the double or a ten to chop and stay alive. Unfortunately for them, the river fell {6-Hearts} and the pot was shipped to their opponent. They chose not to rebuy and were eliminated from the tournament.

Eric “alwaysliquid” Vanauken Looking for More partypoker US Success

Eric Vanauken
Eric Vanauken

Eric “alwaysliquid” Vanauken is a name you should know as he's become on of the most accomplished players on the partypoker US Network.

A couple of months ago, Vanauken accomplished the incredible feat of capturing back-to-back titles not once, but twice.

In the July 6-12 series, he topped a 134-entry field to win Event #4: $15,000 GTD NLH for nearly $7,500, and then the next night bested 144 runners to win Event #5: $,7500 GTD Green Chip Bounty for $3,145. Then, at the end of July, he won the $320 buy-in Event #3: $15,000 GTD PKO Bounty for $6,393 and a day later emerged victorious in the $215 buy-in Event #4: $12,000 GTD PKO Bounty Boost for $5.691.

PokerNews recently had the chance to chat with Vanauken about his recent successes.

Money Never Sleeps

For the 43-year-old Vanauken, who is married with three kids ages 7, 10, and 19, he’s never really had a nine-to-five job. Instead, he fancies himself a real estate broker engaging in flips and investments while playing poker on the side of course.

“I first learned playing $4/$8 limit at Foxwoods in early 2000 and now play now $20/$40 and $30/$60 when I can find a game, or settle on $1/$2 or $2/$5 NLH," he said. "I have played the WSOP Main Event two times with no luck busting on Day 2 both times.”

Additionally, Vanauken grinds a decent amount on the virtual tables under the screen name “alwaysliquid,” which stems from the movie Wall Street when Gordon Gekko tells Bud Fox about how money never sleeps and you need to always be liquid.

“Since New Jersey went legal I play on Borgata and WSOP. I used to play PokerStars but had an issue with them over a year ago and have since boycotted them. I do very well on Borgata. I even shipped the Mega Thursday [not long ago] on my phone from an Applebee’s parking lot as I had no WiFi at home due to power outage.”

As for his recent successes on partypoker US, Vanauken was pleased but wanted to remain humble.

“I am humbled to be able to compete with all of the great players in New Jersey,” he said. “I’m proud that all of my studying and grinding has been producing favorable results in the past few years, taking me from an average breakeven player to a profitable one. At the same time, I try to maintain being humble with this great game and what it has provided for me and my family.”

Proudest Poker Accomplishments

For Vanauken, the scores rank up there among his proudest poker accomplishments, which includes beating a poker legend.

“In 2013, I beat Joe McKeehen for the Borgata Limit Championship,” Vanauken said. “I think that was the last limit event held at Borgata.”

Other highlights on his poker résumé include finishing sixth in the 2018 WSOP Circuit at Canada’s Playground Poker Club and finishing runner-up in a pair of WSOP Circuit online events back in March.

“So close to a ring but the two cashes of $35k and $20k within a few days definitely eased the quarantine pain,” Vanauken said.

With the latest partypoker US Network Online Series happening now, only time will tell if Vanauken can keep his streak of winning back-to-back events alive.

"under_where00" Ships a Triple

"under_where00"
"under_where00"

In Level 10 with blinds of 900/1,800 and an ante of 225, Jonathan "jetsfan411" Borenstein opened the action with a raise to 3,960 in early position and was called by "jaehoez24" in middle position. Action then folded around to "under_where00," who was on the button and three-bet to 10,400.

Daniel "leinad" Buzgon then cold four-bet jammed for 77,000 in the big blind to put action onto Borenstein, who went into the tank for a bit before letting his hand go. "jaehoez24" then called Buzgon's shove and "under_where00" called all in for 54,000 to have a shot at a triple.

"under_where00" found their tens up against a couple of suited ace-kings, needing to fade four immediate outs and two possible flushes. The board came clean, running out {8-Hearts}{7-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} and they earned a triple with their full house.

"NoRecourse" Holds for the Dub

In Level 11 with blinds of 1,000/2,000 and an ante of 250, "NoRecourse" got all in for 35,300 preflop on the button against "mia1223," who was under the gun.

"NoRecourse": {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
"mia1223": {a-Spades}{j-Spades}

The two players were in a coin flip but "NoRecourse" pulled ahead on the flop {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, hitting a set of sevens. They were not out of the woods as the turn {8-Spades} gave "mia1223" the nut flush draw along with a gutshot straight draw to go with it. They hit the backdoor nut flush on the river {10-Spades}, but it wound up being no good as it also gave "NoRecourse" a full house to earn them the double.

"upayformypennys" Over Six Figures, Wang Over 200K

In Level 12 with blinds of 1,200/2,400 and an ante of 300, Michael "miw210x" Wang opened to 5,200 in the hijack and received a call from "upayformypennys" in the small blind. The two players saw a flop of {8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{8-Hearts} and both players checked.

The turn was {j-Hearts} and "upayformypennys" checked again. Wang bet 5,700 and "upayformypennys" check-raised to 18,000. Wang thought for a few moments and then called.

The river fell {9-Clubs} and "upayformypennys" fired, betting 44,400. Wang folded without much deliberation and "upayformypennys" took down the pot, bringing their stack over 100,000 in the process. Despite conceding the pot, Wang has also chipped up and finds himself with 205,000.
