Po Ying Leads The Remaining 34 Day 1A Players of Big Stax XXXI 300

Twelve hours and 15 levels are in the books on Day 1a of the Big Stax XXXI 300, with 34 players advancing to Sunday’s Day 2 out of a total 308 entries.

Po Ying (835,000) ended the day as the chip leader. Ying was around the top throughout the day and lost a huge pot in the final hours to Eliano Mesquita (783,500) who ended the night second in chips.

Eric Lawton (552,000) was another player who continuously built his stack throughout the entirety of play and ended third in chips. Rounding out the top five stacks are Tony Meza (480,000) and Patrick McComas (475,500). Other players to advance include Anthony Tonzelli (404,000), Gregory Fishberg, (336,000), Judy Bielan (329,000), Dan DaConti (242,500), and Joe Palma (171,000).

Some players who did not advance were Anthony Anastasi, Carl Copeland, Ryan Eriquezzo, and Douglas Tascarella.

Three more starting flights remain, with Day 1b starting Thursday at 11 a.m. local time.

Rockets Improve to Broadway for Angelo

Gregory Fishberg opened for 12,500 from the small blind and called Nick Angelo's three-bet to 45,000 from the big blind.

Fishberg check-called Angelo's 45,000 continuation bet after the flop hit the felt.

Both players checked the turn, along with the river and tabled their hands.

Gary Quach opened from middle position and Eric Lawton called on the button along with Svetlana [Removed:301] from the big blind.

The flop was checked to the turn where Quach threw out a bet that was called by both Lawton and [Removed:301].

The dealer completed the board with the on the river and action was checked to Lawton who fired out 21,500. [Removed:301] raised to 50,000 and Quach got out of the way.

Lawton then moved all in and was snapped off by [Removed:301].
