Big Stax 500

Day 3 Started

The Final Day of the Big Stax XXXI 300 Kicks-Off at Noon

Josias Dossantos
Josias Dossantos

The final day of the Big Stax XXXI 500 is set to kick-off at noon! The tournament has 18 players returning to battle it out for the $87,185 first-place prize.

Leading the way is a very familiar face in Vineet Pahuja. Pahuja has a long record of tournament cashes and wins dating back to 2007 with earnings closing in on $3,00,000. Pahuja brings almost a double chip average-sized stack into the final day with 4,085,000 but has table-mate Josias Dossantos hot on his tail with 3,890,000.

Dossantos is no slouch either, not only is he second in chips, he brings over 1.1 million in career earnings to the table. With that being said, there is still plenty of tough competition. Their table alone accumulates to over $5,000,000 in lifetime earnings when you just add in Michael Marder and John Alesi, who finished third in this tournament back in August.

Gross Out-Flops Brown for Double Up

Level 26 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Jeffrey Gross
Jeffrey Gross

Travis Hartshorn opened for 120,000 from early position and Rafal Kordys called from middle position. Action was on Jeffrey Gross who three-bet all in for 500,000 from the cutoff and was called by Mitchell Brown from the small blind while the other two folded.

Jeffrey Gross: {a-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}
Mitchell Brown: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Brown had Gross dominated until the {j-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{a-Spades} flop hit the felt.

The turn paired the board with the {j-Clubs} and brown needed a king or ten to win the hand.

Luckily for Gross, the river fell a {8-Hearts} to give him the much needed double up.

Travis Hartshorn

Mitchell Brown limped in under the gun and Travis Hartshorn raised all in for 875,000 from middle position. Action folded back around to Mitchell who called.

Mitchell Brown: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Travis Hartshorn: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

"Lets see if I can get lucky with ace-queen," Brown said as the {8-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{q-Diamonds} flop fell.

Just as Hartshorn stood up the dealer dropped the {k-Diamonds} on the turn and added another on the river with the {k-Spades} to give him the double up.
