Shak Raises and Shoves

Under the gun, Dan Shak opened to 50,000, and Daniel Negreanu made the call around on the button. In the small blind, Jonathan Duhamel began stacking out reraising chips, and he made it a total of 188,000 to send the decision back to Shak.

After a minute or so of contemplation, Shak announced an all-in shove for 1.044 million total.

"Mmm-k, nevermind," Negreanu said as he hastily mucked.

Duhamel spent a couple minutes in the tank, but he was ultimately unwilling to call. He let Shak have it, and the two men have swapped spots in the counts.

Duhamel Gets Some Back

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom was under the gun and raised to 45,000. Action folded to Jonathan Duhamel on the button and he three-bet to 112,000. Both blinds released, Blom called, and the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}.

Blom checked it over to Duhamel who checked behind, landing the {2-Clubs} on the turn. Another check from Blom led to a bet of 121,000 from Duhamel. Blom folded after a few moments, giving the pot to Duhamel.

Mike McDonald Eliminated in 7th Place

Mike McDonald - 7th place
Mike McDonald - 7th place

First in from the button, Mike "Timex" McDonald opened to 44,000, and the action came to Viktor Blom's big blind. He shot a glance, then three-bet to 126,000, and McDonald shoved in for 447,000 total. Blom asked for the count, then made the call with a chance at the knockout. It was the right call, and he had McDonald in a bad way as the cards were turned up.

Showdown
McDonald: {K-Spades} {J-Clubs}
Blom: {A-Diamonds} {J-Spades}

Things improved in a hurry for McDonald as the {9-Diamonds} {K-Clubs} {6-Hearts} flop vaulted him into a big lead. Next door, Daniel Negreanu piped up with some dramatic foreshadowing. "I think an ace is coming. Ace of spades. I feel it. Do you feel it?"

The turn was the other pointed spade, the safe {4-Spades}, and Timex was one card from the double.

River: {A-Hearts}

Somewhere, Barry Greenstein just got a royalty check for that ace on the river. Blom re-sucks on the end to earn the pot, and with it come all the rest of McDonald's chips. Relegated to the rail in seventh place, McDonald will leave with $0, and the remaining six players are now squarely on a rather large money bubble with five places paying out at least a quarter-million dollars.

Hall Extends Lead

Viktor Blom raised to 45,000 on the button and Galen Hall called out of the small blind. Scott Seiver called from the big blind, as well, and the flop fell {J-Spades}{5-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}.

All three checked to see the {7-Diamonds} turn card. It was checked to Blom who decided to bet 86,000. Hall wasn't going anywhere, raising to 325,000. Seiver laid it down, as did Blom after a few moments.

A Bit More For Hall

Viktor Blom raised to 40,000 from the cutoff seat, and Galen Hall three-bet to 90,000 next door in position. Blom matched the bet, and they both checked through the {6-Clubs} {K-Spades} {9-Diamonds} turn.

The {A-Spades} landed on the turn, and 48,000 chips was all Hall needed to force Blom out of the pot.

"Way to smash the turn," Scott Seiver surmised.

Hall is now closing in on 2.5 million chips with 8 million in play.

Shak Forces Seiver Out

Dan Shak opened to 50,000 under the gun and Galen Hall called in the cutoff. Scott Seiver called on the button and the three of them saw a {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{3-Spades} flop.

Shak bet 110,000, quickly getting a fold from Hall. Seiver, however, called to see the {2-Hearts} hit the turn. Shak showed no signs of slowing down, betting 150,000. Seiver gave it up, sending the pot Shak's way.

Scott Seiver Eliminated On The Bubble

Scott Seiver on Day 2
Scott Seiver on Day 2

Scott Seiver min-raised to 40,000 under the gun and Daniel Negreanu three-bet to 86,000 in the hijack. Action folded to Galen Hall in the big blind and after a few moments, he four-bet to 218,000.

Seiver shoved for 344,000, getting Negreanu to quickly fold. Hall quickly called and the hands were revealed.

Seiver: {J-Diamonds}{J-Spades}
Hall: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts}

Seiver was crushed and found no help from the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{6-Clubs} board to hit the rail in sixth place.

Duhamel Finds a Good Spot

Under the gun, Dan Shak opened to 50,000, and Galen Hall dropped 75,000 into the pot. That was an under-raise, and he was forced to add the extra 5,000 to make it a mini-raise to 80,000. The table folded around to the big blind, and Jonathan Duhamel was thinking sinister thoughts. He stacked out 216,000 and slid it into the pot, and Shak tanked and folded. Hall ducked out too, and Duhamel took it down.

Shak was a bit burned that he wasn't able to stay in. "I was so sure I had you beat," he told Duhamel. "Because he [Hall] meant to call, obviously. You just had to hope I was light."

"It's five-handed though. Anybody can be light," Duhamel quipped back.

"I know," Shak answered. "But I wasn't that light."

Shak Takes From Duhamel

Jonathan Duhamel raised to 45,000 on the button and Dan Shak three-bet from the small blind to an amount we couldn't quite catch. Duhamel called it and the flop came down {9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}.

Shak checked it to Duhamel who bet 142,000. Shak, though, had other ideas and raised to 500,000. Duhamel gave it up, giving the pot to Shak.
