Day 1 of $25,000 High Roller Kicks Off
Welcome to our ongoing coverage of the 2015 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure! While the Main Event plays down on one side of the tournament room, the first day of another exciting event will kick off on the other. Today marks the start of the $25,000 High Roller where poker's elite will come out to compete for their share of what is sure to be an astounding prize pool.
Last year this event drew a total of 247 total entries, which allowed for a prize pool of $6,051,500. Jake Schindler rose to the top of the field, claiming $1,192,624 in first-place prize money. Schindler bested a star-studded final table that included the likes of Ole Schemion, Robert Mizrachi, Mustapha Kanit, and Team PokerStars Pro Vanessa Selbst. In the end, Schindler found himself heads up with 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Greg Merson. After a heads up deal, Merson took home $948,996 and Schindler grabbed hold of the first-place prize.
Past winners of this event include Selbst, Alex Bilokur, Will Molson, William Reynolds, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. Grospellier won the inaugural PCA $25,000 High Roller event for $433,500. This victory made for a stellar addition to the $5,871,734 in total winnings during the first five years of his career. We're sure to see Grospellier and many other members of PokerStars Team Pro on the felt today.
Entry in this tournament earns players a starting stack of 50,000 in chips. Play on Day 1 will span the length of ten 60-minute levels. Registration will remain open until 12 p.m. on Day 2. There will be a 75-minute dinner break after the conclusion of Level 6.
