Titov Leads on Day 3 of PCA Main Event as Konnikova Looks for Second Title of Series

Maria Konnikova and Liv Boeree are both returning for Day 3
Maria Konnikova and Liv Boeree are both returning for Day 3

We're just hours away from the kickoff of Day 3 of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event and it's sure to be an exciting one as players will kick off just 14 places away from the money.

Leading the way is Russia's Oleg Titov who is looking to improve on his largest recorded cash ever from two years ago at the EPT in Barcelona where he scored $51,111. The schedule is set for players to play four 90-minute levels today from level 14 through 17 so there is plenty of action to look forward too.

Among some of the other's returning are Adrian Mateos (358,000), David Peters (327,000), Maria Lampropulos (299,500), Koray Aldemir (256,000), Chris Hunichen (166,000), Liv Boeree (96,000), Harrison Gimbel(99,000), Joao Simao (90,500), Ivan Luca (77,000), Barry Greenstein (69,000) and Kevin MacPhee (38,500) to name a few. Also still in action is PokerStars friend Maria Konnikova. Konnikova has already made a splash this series by winning the $1,650 PokerStars National Championship event where she locked up $84,600 and a Platinum Pass worth $30,000.

Speaking of Platinum Passes, on Wednesday, Thai Ha locked up another of the passes to be given away here at the series. All Main Event Day 2 participants had the chance today to win their own $30,000 Platinum Pass, which includes a $25,000 buy-in to the inaugural 2019 PokerStars Players No-Limit Hold'em Championship, along with accommodation and expenses. Ha won a blind hand at his table by rivering trip eights to lock up the $30,000 pass. Another of these passes will be given away today with a chance for each player who made it to Day 3 to win one of their own. Unfortunately for Ha, he did not survive through Day 2, but he was lucky enough to not walk away empty handed.

Along with the Platinum Pass being given away, there are plenty more prizes to be won here in the Main Event. The money bubble is likely to break within the first few levels of play with the final 87 players receiving at least $17,500. But the players have their eyes on much more than just a cash as all of them are looking to take down the $1,081,100 first place prize.

The action is set to kick off at 12 p.m. local time at level 14 with blinds of 1,500/3,000 and an ante of 500. PokerNews will be here throughout the day with coverage from top to bottom so make sure to stay tuned so you don't miss a thing.

Early Triple for [Removed:240]

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Aleksandr Milyaev opened for 6,500 under the gun and Anthony Philips, who was next to act, made the call. Jack Sinclair came along from two spots over in the cutoff, and then Germany's [Removed:240] three-bet all in for 52,000 from the big blind.

Milyaev folded, Philips called, and Sinclair gave it some thought before putting in the chips. The two active players then checked it down as the board ran out {3-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{5-Spades}. At that point, all three hands were turned up.

Sinclair: {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Philips: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Schottes: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

The ladies of Schottes stayed true, and he shipped the triple here in the early goings of Day 3.

The Carlsson and the Furey

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Charles Furey raised to 10,500 from the cutoff and Daniel Carlsson defended from the big blind to see an {8-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{7-Clubs} flop.

Carlsson check-called a bet of 12,500 and then checked again on the {3-Diamonds} turn.

Furey kept the pressure on with a bet of 25,500, and that did the trick as Carlsson released.

Ramdin Starts Off on the Wrong Foot

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

With over 40,000 already in the middle and the board showing {9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{10-Spades} Victor Ramdin was facing off against Florian Maurer.

Ramdin was first to act and he checked over to Maurer. Maurer fired off a bet of 22,000 and Ramdin dropped into the tank. Eventually, he settled on calling. Maurer turned up {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for a flopped set and Ramdin mucked his hand. With that pot, Ramdin fell below 100,000 while Maurer surpassed the 200,000 chip mark.

Kevin Hobbs Busted by Ramin Hajiyev

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

After a raise from Ramin Hajiyev, Kevin Hobbs moved all in for right around 50,000. Action folded back to Hajiyev and he took some time before calling the shove.

Hobbs: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}
Hajiyev: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

The board ran out {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{2-Spades}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and that kept Hajiyev in the lead the whole way with his pair of sevens. Hobbs hits the rail and will not take home any money from the Main Event.

Buchanan Shows Hunichen His Ace

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

From under the gun, Shawn Buchanan raised to 6,000. Chris Hunichen was in the big blind and he defended with a call.

The flop came down {6-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and both players checked to see the {9-Clubs} on the turn. There, Hunichen led out with a bet of 7,000. Buchanan called.

The river was the {8-Clubs} and Hunichen checked this time. Buchanan put out a bet of 12,500 and Hunichen dropped into the tank. He thought for at least a minute before eventually deciding to fold.

After the hand, Buchanan showed Hunichen the {A-Clubs} for the nut flush. Hunichen fake wiped his brow and let out a sigh of relief and a laugh.

"Did you have another one under there too?" Hunichen asked jokingly, to which Buchanan just smiled.
