While ace-seven worked out for Simon Burns once, it did not do so the second time and we are now down to six players in the Poker King Cup Macau Main Event.

Burns got his last 850,000 in pre-flop from middle position and Liu Lifu called quickly from the button.

The board ran out and Burns headed for the rail to collect the equivalent of US$29,769 for his seventh place finish while Lifi stacked up to a little over 2.3 million.

Weizhou Zha Eliminated in 6th Place (HK$278,000)

Just minutes after the departure of Simon Burns and the final table has another casualty with Michael Soyza gunning down the unfortunate Weizhou Zha.

Soyza was the man attacking Zha’s blind once again, only this time the Chinese player played back and moved all-in for roughly 675,000. Soyza decided the chance to thin the field was too good to pass up on and made the call and the cards were turned over.

While Zha had the best hand pre-flop he was not that far in front but the flop paired his jack to improve his lead. However, this was the calm before the storm as Soyza had a gutshot straight draw which came in when the hit the turn to leave Zha drawing dead and he departed in sixth place, taking home the equivalent of US$35,670.

Huang Qien Eliminated in 5th Place (HK$346,000)

The action is coming to the boil and the bust outs are now coming thick and fast. Huang Qien is the latest casualty, moving all-in from under-the-gun for a little less than 800,000 and big blind Zhong Yuan Hang called quickly.

It was race time once again, but unfortunately for Qien it was one he took the back seat in immediately with the flop coming down to pair Hang’s ace. The turn and river were of no help and the final table is down to four. Hang stacked up to 2.3 million and Qien headed to the cash desk to collect the equivalent of US$44,394.

The elimination of Liu Lifu takes play three-handed

As the final tables shortest stack Liu Lifu had been playing quite snug and had dropped to 1.2 million. The action was 10-minutes into the new level when the action folded around to the Chinese player on the button. Lifu peeked down at his cards and declared himself all-in and big blind Longyun Li asked for a count.

Lifu had exactly 1.2 million and Li, who had chips to spare with roughly 5.7 million, thought it over and evidently thought the opportunity to take play three-handed was one he could not pass up on and slammed down a huge tower of pink 25k chips to represent the call and the hands were turned face-up.

While Lifu grimaced as soon as Li made the call his ace-high was actually the best hand, that was until the flop fell , giving Li the lead and leaving Lifu teetering on the brink of elimination.

The turn was the final nail in Lifu’s coffin and left him drawing dead, meaning the river, while giving Lifu top pair, was irrelevant.

That took the action three-way and Li stacked up to a little over 6 million while Li headed for the rail, stopping by the cash desk to collect the equivalent of US$59,273.

Soyza Powers into Lead, Double for Hang

Since the elimination of Liu Lifu, Michael Soyza had switched gears and had upped the aggression to take down serveral sizable pots without showdown. Soyza had edged into a significant lead with close to 9.5 million in chips before Zhong Yuan Hang had had enough and decided to make a stand.

Following yet another Soyza button raise Hang jammed in the rest of his 1.75 million stack in from the big blind with a harrumph. Soyza thought it over but now he had the chips to spare he decided to give Hang a spin and made the call.

Hang gave it a triumphant ‘yeah!’ and pounded the table when he saw that he had the lead and the flop came down to see Hang maintain the lead, though Soyza had flopped a gutshot draw to the wheel.

However, it did not come in with the turn and river locking up the hand for Hang and he doubled to 3.65 million.

Hang in the Hot Seat to Seize Lead

Zhong Yuan Hang has just doubled up again through Michael Soyza, with the Chinese player enjoying the rub of the green at present.

Pre-flop Hang was on the button and made it 300,000 to go. Soyza, sitting in the small blind, squeezed his cards and then reached for chips, but they were not for calling with.

Soyza slid out two towers of pink 25k chips for a re-raise of 1 million in total, Hang snap shoved all-in over the top and was called instantly by Soyza.

Hang was not in good shape, finding himself a 3-1 underdog and the was not a particularly helpful one. However, like a thunderbolt from the poker gods, the landed on the turn to give Hang top pair with a backdoor spade flush draw. The river was the and Hang’s rail went mental.

Hang stacked up to 6.4 million while Soyza calmly counted down a portion of his monster stack and shipped it over to Hang to drop to 4.9 million.

Li Doubles Through Hang

Zhong Yuan Hang is throwing the chips around like confetti at a wedding at present and has just played another huge all-in hand, this time against Longyun Li.

Pre-flop it was Hang raising to 300,000 from the button and after Michael Soyza folded the small blind, Longyun Li moved all-in from the big blind for 2.38 million. Hang called immediately and the cards were turned over.

We’re pretty sure Tony G has talked at length about calling off your chips with king-jack, but Hang has them to spare at present so seemed more than happy to try and take play heads-up.

As it was however, Li held the lead and that did not change when the flop fell a monochrome . With neither player having any clubs Li maintained his lead when the and river completed the hand.

Li climbed to a little over 5 million while Hang dropped to 3.9 million, meaning Michael Soyza edged into the lead once again with 5.8 million. All that excitement brings us to a 10-minute break.
