Shin Gets Yang

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Jae Wook Shin
Jae Wook Shin

Zong-Ping Yang's Main Event is now over, courtesy of Jae Wook Shin. Yang got the last of his chips in from the button with {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and was looked up by Shin from the small blind with {a-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

While the {k-Spades}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts} flop gave Yang top two, it also gave Shin a gutshot straight draw, and while it did not materialize on the {2-Spades} turn, the {q-Spades} river gave Shin the winning hand and brought Yang's deep run to an end, and he departed in 25th place for a TWD 57,900 payday.

Aces No Good For Lee

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante
Kun Han Lee
Kun Han Lee

Statistically, pocket Aces should hold up two out of three times, though that trend is being bucked in Taiwan today, with the pocket rocket's third appearance so far today resulting in failure for Kun Han Lee.

It was Ling He the man to show Lee the door, opening from under-the-gun for 23,000. Lee was short and moved all-in from one seat over for 95,000 in total and the action folded back around to He who had a decision to make. Being as it was not all that much more, He shrugged and stuck in the call, showing {5-Spades}{6-Spades}, which was trailing to Lee's {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts}.

However, the {7-Spades}{j-Hearts}{6-Spades} flop was a pretty decent one for He, and while he missed the {9-Clubs} turn, the {3-Spades} river gave him the straight flush and sent Lee crashing out of the tournament in 24th place for a TWD 65,300 payday.

Lindop Takes From Erquiaga

Level 20 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Alex Lindop won a decent sized pot from David Erquiaga after opening to 18,000 in late position, with Erguiaga defending from the big blind.

Lindop continuation bet on the {10-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-} flop for another 18,000 into the 55,000 pot, only to see Erquiaga re-raise to 45,000 in total. After some time in the tank, Lindop called and the dealer burned and turned the {j-Spades} with the action going check, check.

The {k-Diamonds} river saw Erquiaga shove, putting Lindop in a tough spot for his tournament life, with the Brit eventually calling with {a-Spades}{j-} which was good as Erquiaga mucked his hand.

Erquiaga Takes From Fan, Wee Squeezes

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

David Erguiaga won a big flip against Terry Fan that saw the two switch places in the counts, with Erquiaga now sitting pretty on a chunky 720,000 stack, while Fan has slumped to 290,000.

Over on table 21, Ping Hsien Chan opened the action from under-the-gun with a raise to 24,000, picking up a caller in the form of Yu You Ci Tsai, before neighbor Lee Kuan Wee squeezed to 105,000 in total. After the action folded to the blinds, they both bowed out and Chan had a decision to make.

Eventually, he elected to fold, as did Tsai, leaving Wee to pad out his stack for an additional 62,000, all without showdown.

Fan on Fan Action Results in Bust

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Chunsan Fan
Chunsan Fan

The field has gone from two Fans to one, with Chunsan Fan and Terry Fan clashing in a pot that saw the former depart and the latter stack up to 400,000 and was kind enough to fill us in on the details after the fact.

Terry Fan was holding {a-Spades}{5-Spades} and was up against Chunsan Fan, holding {10-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} with the chips going in on a flop of {3-}{4-}{6-} with two spades. Terry made a straight on the {2-} turn, improving to a flush on the {2-Spades} river to win the battle of the Fans and stack up to 400,000.

Shih Falls to Wee Who Seizes Lead

Level 21 : 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Shih Wei En
Shih Wei En

Shih Wei En and Lee Kuan Wee clashed in a hand that saw the former hit the rail and the latter climb to the top of the counts, with all the chips finding their way into the middle preflop.

It was Wee who was the initial aggressor, opening from late position and calling a Shih shove from the blinds and the two players tabled their cards.

Shih Wei En: {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}
Lee Kuan Wee: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

While Shih held the lead with jacks and staying in front on the {4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} flop, the appearance of the {q-Hearts} on the turn saw Wee edge in front, with the {5-Spades} river bringing Shih's Main Event to a close, while Wee stacked up to 832,000, which makes him the current chip leader.
