Huntly and Jeffreys Continue to Battle

From under the gun, Andrew Jeffreys raised to 175 and Dennis Huntly called from the button. The two players have seen several flops together and this time it came down {J-Clubs}

.

Jeffreys led out for 250 and Huntly called. The turn was the {6-Hearts}

, and Jeffreys bet again, for 525 this time, with Huntly calling.

Before the river, Jeffreys fired 1,100 in the dark. The final card was the {3-Diamonds}

, and Huntly quickly tossed in the call.

"You win," said Jeffreys as he prepared to muck his cards. Huntly showed {10-Diamonds}

for a pair of eights to which Jeffreys commented, "Just fold Dennis, one time."

There have been several pots between these two today that Huntly has won; the cause of Jeffreys stack being down to just 2,000 chips.

Steicke Situation

David Steicke is down to 3,425 in chips early on after losing a decent sized pot to Chris Christofi.

Action folded around to Steicke on the button, and he made it 250 to go. Christofi made the call from the small blind, as did Robert Wang from the big.

The flop came down {A-Clubs}

, and the action was checked to Steicke, who dropped a purple 500 chip and two green 25's into the middle, announcing a bet of 350. Christofi called by tossing a single 500 chip into the middle and Wang folded. As the dealer made change for Christofi, he accidentally slid him a 500 chip instead of a second green. Christofi quickly corrected the error, which prompted Steicke to comment, "You're very honest."

After the brief exchange, the dealer placed the {7-Hearts}

on the table and it was Christofi's turn to act. He checked, and Steicke fired another bullet, this time betting 525. Christofi made a quick call, bringing us to the river: {K-Hearts}

.

Christofi then quickly fired a 1,200 bet on fifth street, and Steicke wasted no time tossing his cards into the muck pile.

No 'Obst'acles Here

On a board showing {8-Spades}

, Obst check-called a 750 bet from an opponent on the way to the turn: {A-Clubs}

. Both Obst and his opponent checked the turn, and Obst led out with a 1,275 bet when the {5-Diamonds}

rolled off on the river. Obst's opponent made the call and, the man better known as 'Andy McLEOD' online, rolled over {A-Hearts}

for a straight to take down the pot. His opponent flashed {A-?}

for two pair before tossing his cards into the muck.

After the hand, Obst stacked up just over 14,000 in chips and is off to a fast start here in the early levels of play.

Hachem Claims Another Victim

Minutes after changing tables, Tony Hachem became involved in a hand right away. He put an opponent all in preflop after the player raised from the button. Hachem was in the small blind and when the cards were turned up, Hachem's pocket pair of jacks were ahead against his opponent's {K-Hearts}

.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}

to give Hachem the win. When he realized that his opponent only had about 2,100 chips left, Hachem asked, "Where were all your 500 chips mate? I thought you had more."

Tony is looking good with slightly over 14,000 in his stack.

David Steicke Eliminated

A short-stacked David Steicke has just been eliminated from the 6-handed event by opponent Robert Wang.

With the blinds at 75/150, action folded around to Steicke on the button, who open-shoved for 1,200. Chris Christofi called from the small blind, as did Wang from the big, and the three saw the flop come {Q-?}

According to Christofi, he checked to Wang, who fired a bet on the flop, prompting Christofi to fold and a showdown ensued:

Bricks on both the turn and river locked up the hand for Wang, who now sits with about 9,000 in chips.

Vandersluis' KO'd by Trip Tens

Roy Vandersluis has just been eliminated from the tournament after losing a coinflip to Danny Mount.

The hand pitted Vandersluis' Big Slick against Mount's pocket tens. Mount spiked a third ten of the flop and Vandersluis never improved, thus, his fate was decided. Mount stacked up 9,000 in chips with the win, which is impressive, considering he'd dropped to as low as 1,000 in chips earlier today.

Doubling McDonagh

From under the gun, Michael Attipa limped in, and action folded around to Danny McDonagh. He put in a raise, making it 800 to play. Both the blinds ducked out, and it was back on Attipa. He bumped it up further, putting out a total of 1,600 chips, and McDonagh called.

The flop came {5-Clubs}

. Attipa checked, and McDonagh annouced, "Well, if you got a big pair, you got me," as he slid his last 1,350 chips into the middle. Attipa shrugged and called, turning over {A-Clubs}
