Uzi Gunned Down

So good they named him twice, Bessi Bessy raised to 2,000 from the cutoff, only for the equally delightfully monikered Uzi Gellman to reraise to a suspicious-looking 4,000 total from the button. Bessy raised an eyebrow, and flat called.

Flop: {6-Hearts} {10-Clubs} {8-Spades}

Bessy announced all in for 7,725 and Gellman INSTA-called; on their backs.

Bessy: {7-Clubs} {8-Clubs}
Gellman: {A-Clubs} {A-Hearts}

Turn: {4-Diamonds}

River: {9-Hearts}

Credit to Snoopy for the headline, so that he doesn't beat me when we get home.

Bad Beat for Vos

It's not unusual to see Mark Vos play a marginal hand, but there were more than the odd eyebrow raised when Vos had a man all in with {8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, UTG. His opponent held {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs}.

Although there were shouts of a deuce, no such luck emerged as the flop came a rather emphatic {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{A-Spades}. "I can still win," observed an optimistic Vos, but not when the {10-Hearts} turn, followed by an academic {Q-Hearts} river.

Vos is now down to 32,000.

Alexander the Not So Great

Alexander Eder is out, but not before being poked and prodded by the Poker gods. All in with {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} versus {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, Eder was in dire need of assistance, which duly arrived on the {A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{A-Spades} flop, but a {10-Hearts} turn and {Q-Hearts} river dealt a cruel blow, given that he had completed the hard part of spiking the flop.

Kullenberg Culls Lackovic

Nik Lackovic is no more for this tournament after falling foul of an expressionless Simon Kullenberg. Lackovic had mucked by the time this blogger got there, but the board read {3-Diamonds} {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades} {K-Hearts} {Q-Hearts} and Kullenberg could boas {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} for a full house. Kullenberg had Lackovic just covered, and he is very definitely our new chip leader on around 70,000.

Kersjes! I'm Beat

With the board reading {K-Spades} {8-Hearts} {9-Spades} {7-Clubs} {10-Spades}, big blind Jeroen Kersjes checked to Mark Vos, who bet 3,500. After a short pause, the short-stacked Kersjes merely flat called, and Vos had mucked before Kersjes even showed him a six for the lower end of the straight.

Salvatore's Salvation

Three players saw an {8-Hearts} {5-Clubs} {2-Spades} flop, and in the small blind position Salvatore Cundari open-shoved for his last 3,500. Big blind Bessi Bessy passed, but Uzi Gellman who'd limped in under the gun called.

Cundari: {5-Diamonds} {9-Clubs}
Gellman: {Q-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}

Turn: {J-Clubs}

River: {J-Diamonds}

Cundari now rests on 11,000 in chips.

Marc Veldhoven Eliminated

With blinds on 600 and 1,200 with a running ante of 100, a short-stacked Marc Veldhoven decided to make his move, pushing in his final 7,200, in addition to a Bounty Bar that was resting on his stack, with {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Unfortunately for him, Joey Buhmann was salivating in the big blind with {Q-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}, and had no trouble surviving a harmless {5-Clubs}{6-Spades}{10-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Clubs} board.

As Veldhoven donated his Bounty Bar to his assassin, Buhman commented, "It's not the real thing."
