Day 1c of Golden Nugget Grand Poker Series Event #55: 2022 PokerNews Cup $1,100 will get underway at 11 a.m. local time on what will be the third of three starting days in this $1 Million Guarantee event. It is expected to be the largest field yet with yesterday hitting 455 entries to make for 636 total over the first two starting days.

Day 1a was led by Shea Quintin and Daniel Hinh. Day 1b had three players bag larger stacks than them as Daniel Fuhs has the overall lead thus far with 709,000

The $1 Million guarantee will be made up of $1,100 entries. Each entry will garner a stack of 30,000. Reentry is unlimited and will be open until the start of Level 13. The very last possible late entries will be around 8:45 p.m. local time tonight.

The day will play down until 12.5% of the field is remaining. At that point, the players will bag and be officially in the money as they head to Day 2, which will be at 12 noon on Monday, June 27. There are 15-minute breaks after Level 3, Level 6, and Level 12, a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9, and a 10-minute break after Level 15 in the late night.

PokerNews will be there to report the action all day long today and keep an eye on the scintillating action.

Hickey's "Straddle" Pays Off

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Jason Hickey retold a hand to PokerNews:

Hickey was under the gun and tossed in a "straddle" (really just a in-the-dark raise, as straddles aren't allowed in tournament play) without looking at his cards. There was one caller in middle position. The flop came {6-}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Hickey called a bet while still in the dark.

The turn was the {9-Hearts}, his opponent bet again. Now Hickey finally looked at his cards and saw {3-}{3-} for bottom set. He raised and his opponent went all in and Hickey snap-called.

His opponent had {a-}{9-} and the river was a blank to give Hickey the big early pot and bust his opponent.
