Morris Dadoun - Gone But Not Forgotten

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Morris Dadoun
Morris Dadoun

Morris Dadoun (pictured) led the way for some time on Day 1a and flew into Day 2 with a great chip lead. Not bad work for the 84-year-old live qualifier who won a ticket out in Toronto and arrived in Blue Jays garb to take on the best. Dadoun had some dramatic table moves across both his days at the felt and took on Daniel Negreanu on Day 1a among others.

We caught up with Dadoun's eventual conqueror, Belgian pro Davidi Kitai between hands and he told us how unlucky Dadoun had been to bust.

"He was all-in with {A-}{K-} against my {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts} and I won to double-up, then he had three big blinds and he was called three ways when he was all-in preflop. The board came {K-}{7-}{3-} {4-} {5-} and I bet on the river. He lost with {K-}{7-} to {6-}{5-}. I feel a little bit ashamed I took him out, he was really nice!"

Quads for Mateos

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

Adrian Mateos had heaps in front of him all of the sudden and told us about a hand where he won some to get to that point.

The player in seat 6 opened and Mateos called on the button with {7-}{7-}. The big blind came along as well and checked on {10-}{7-}{6-} rainbow. The initial raiser bet and Mateos called, the big blind folded. Action checked to Mateos on the {7-} turn and he bet 14,000. Mateos' opponent called and checked again on the {5-} river. Mateos bet 42,000 with his quads and got called.

Mateos at around 270,000.

Maria Ho told us how her exit from Day 2 of the PokerStars Championship Bahamas happened as we met her on the rail cheering on her friends.

"I had 11 big blinds left and was all-in under the gun with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. Davidi called in the big blind with pocket jacks and held. It was pretty standard."

Luc Greenwood is in the Spotlight

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Luc Greenwood
Luc Greenwood

The camera crew hustled over to a table where Luc Greenwood was sitting, putting a giant mic and spotlight on him. Even so, that didn't make him uncomfortable at all as he raised to 5,000 on the button. Chance Kornuth was in the small blind and three-bet to 13,000. Greenwood went into the tank for a minute and eventually called.

The flop came {a-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Kornuth led out for 8,800. Greenwood took his time and three-bet to 21,000. Kornuth quickly called.

The turn was the {j-Hearts}. Kornuth paused for a moment and then checked. Greenwood looked down at his chips and pushed a stack forward while announcing he was all in (55,000). Kornuth didn't waste any time and released his hand.

As Greenwood was raking in the pot, Kornuth asked, "Don't you wanna show for the cameras?"

Greenwood replied, "I never show."

Two Pair on the Board

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

Blair Hinkle limped from middle position, and that inspired Mike Shin, who finished 12th in the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event, to do the same from the button. Lawrence Greenberg came along from the small blind, Phil Laak checked his option from the big, and four players took a flop of {4-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

Two checks saw Hinkle bet 2,700, Shun called, and the other two players folded. After the dealer burned and turned the {5-Hearts}, action went check-check as it would on the {K-Spades} river. Hinkle tabled the {a-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for king and fives with an ace kicker, which is the same hand Shin had with the {a-Spades}{4-Clubs}.

It wasn't the most exciting hand, but it did give us a good excuse to updates you on all their chip counts.

Will Failla Gets There

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Will Failla
Will Failla

Will Failla, also known as 'Will The Thrill', was short and moved all in for his remaining 9,300. He was called by the small blind and the hands were tabled.

Failla: {a-Diamonds}{4-Spades}
Opponent: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}

The flop came {a-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Failla pulled ahead with a pair of aces.

Before the turn came down Failla yelled for a five. The turn was the {4-Hearts} and a player at the table asked, "Do you still want a five?" as a five on the river would bring a straight on board, chopping the pot between the two players.

The river was the {2-Clubs} and Failla got the double.
