Vaskaboinikau and Koshchii Going Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

On the heads up turn of {9-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{K-Clubs}, Vasilii Koshchii bet 2,525 and Nikolai Kurakin called to see the {4-Clubs} appear on the river. Koshchii now checked and Kurakin bet 4,200 and was quickly called. Kurakin showed {J-Diamonds}{j-Spades} and that ended up second best to the {K-Hearts}{9-Hearts} of Koshchii, who built his stack.

The Russian is the second chip leader on his table behind Mikalai Vaskaboinikau.

Galitski Scores a Double with a River Jam

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

We caught the tail-end of the action as the red triangle was placed in front of Mikhail Galitski and his remaining stack of 15,025 laid beside it. Galitski was heads up on the river of a {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Spades} board with what looked to be over 20,000 in the middle.

Just a few moments went by before his opponent tossed out a chip, representing a call, and Galitski tabled {8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for two pair and his opponent reluctantly mucked.

Alexander Lakhov Four-Bets

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Alexander Lakhov opened for 500 from first position and Aleksandr Tyavin sat next to him made it 1,500 to go. The player on the button called and it was back on Lakhov once the blinds folde.

Lakhov bet two chips worth 6,000 which the dealer initially mistook for a call and when Lakhov corrected her the player on the button too argued that it was a call. It was two chips however and it was a raise.

A bemused looking Tyavin called and the button folded.

The flop was {6-Hearts}{a-Spades}{2-Spades} and Lakhov bet 4,000 which Tyavin called leaving 8,500 behind.

The turn card was the {7-Spades} and with a shrug Lakhov bet all his high denomination chips. Tyavin was left shaking his head and short stacked as he folded.

Donatas Pilinkus a Little Check-Happy

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

A player in middle position limped and the player in the hijack raised to 1,000. Donatas Pilinkus called on the button and Sergey Feklisov three-bet to 2,900 from the big blind and Pilinkus was the only caller.

On a {q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop, Pilinkus checked out of turn. There were a few raised eyebrows but no one commented as Feklisov checked "behind" moments later.

The turn was the {j-Hearts} and again Pilinkus checked out of turn. At this point the dealer stepped in to remind him and Feklisov bet 3,700. Pilinkus called.

The river was the {10-Hearts} and Pilinkus came perilously close to checking out of turn for the third consecutive street, but managed to stop himself. Feklisov checked, and the Lithuanian qualifier checked behind.

Feklisov showed {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts} but Pilinkus showed {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and took down the pot.

Chantcev Takes a Hit

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Sergei Chantcev
Sergei Chantcev

On the three-way flop of {9-Spades}{7-Spades}{4-Spades} with 10,000 in the middle, the action checked to Sergei Chantcev and he bet 5,000. Beka Iordanishvili called and the third player in the hand folded. The {10-Hearts} turn was checked through and Chantcev also checked the {8-Diamonds} river. Iordanishvili bet 7,000.

Chantcev was not happy, but he eventually called and was shown {J-Clubs}{J-Hearts} for a straight by Iordanishvili as winning hand. So far, all had been going smooth for Chantcev, but this hand took a toll on the stack of the Russian.

Saman Nakhjavani Busts

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante

The flop was {9-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}.

Vsevolod Nikolaev moved all in just covering his opponent Saman Nakhjavani.

Nakhjavani gave it some hard thought and called for his tournament life. His {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} top pair though was behind the {q-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} of Nikolaev.

The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and the river the {k-Diamonds} and Nakhjavani hit the rail.

Shalamov Short; Lomakin Doubles

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Mikhail Shalamov
Mikhail Shalamov

Hand 1

In a limped battle of the blinds, Sergey Lomakin bet 400 in the small blind and Mikhail Shalamov called in the big blind. The {J-Clubs} turn saw Lomakin check, Shalamov bet 1,200 and Lomakin call. There was no action on the {9-Spades} river despite Shalamov carefully checking his remaining chips, and Lomakin claimed the pot with {9-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

Hand 2

Lomakin three-bet an open-raise by Igor Yampolskiy to 1,600 and was called to see the flop fall {K-Hearts}{10-Spades}{2-Spades}. Yampolskiy check-raised to 13,000 and called the all in of Lomakin for little more.

Sergey Lomakin: {10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Igor Yampolskiy: {K-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}

The {4-Hearts} turn and {8-Clubs} river were no thread for Lomakin and he doubled back to more than the starting stack.

On a {k-Spades}{10-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{k-Clubs} board Anton Pozdniakov checked to Hugo Dos Santos Videira who bet 3,325. Vadim Kuvshinkov called, as did Pozdniakov.

The river was the {j-Clubs} and it checked to Kuvshinkov who bet 3,000 leaving himself just 175 chips behind. Pozdniakov folded and Dos Santos Videira called.

Kuvshinkov showed {k-Hearts}{q-Hearts} for a full house, and Dos Santos Videira scowled as he mucked his cards.
