Okada Sits Down and Flushes Nguyen

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

After just having sat down a few minutes ago, Ken Okada just took a big pot off Van Sang Nguyen. Joining the action on the three-way flop of {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, Edward Yam in the small blind, Nguyen in the big blind and Okada all checked.

The {9-Clubs} appeared on the turn and Yam checked, Nguyen bet 600 and Okada raised to 1,800. Yam got out of the way and Nguyen reraised to 4,700, which Okada quickly called. Nguyen also bet the {K-Clubs} river for 3,700 and Okada's raise to 8,000 was reluctantly called to see Okada turn over {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs} for a flush as winning hand.

Falcon Escapes from Elimination

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Michael Falcon raised to 625 and Yo Seb Rhee in the big blind asked for his stack size. "Around 20,000, the rest is over there," Falcon replied and pointed back at Rhee, who then called. On the {5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop, Rhee check-raised from 800 to 2,100 and Falcon clicked it back to 6,800, which Rhee then called.

After the {A-Diamonds} fell on the turn, Rhee checked and Falcon moved all in to pick up a quick call by Rhee.

Michael Falcon: {A-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Yo Seb Rhee: {4-Clubs}{2-Spades}

Falcon was drawing to an ace or deuce to double and a four to chop. Once the {4-Diamonds} fell on the river, Falcon grabbed his belongings and was ready to leave before it was pointed out that both chopped it up thanks to the straight on the board. "Oh, I was looking for ace deuce," the Dane added before sitting back down.

Asmolov Finds a Double

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

With just around 5,000 in the middle and the turn reading {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{5-Spades}, Timofey Asmolov got the remainder of his stack in after being put at risk by Yo Seb Rhee. Asmolov had already locked up the double with {K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} for trips fives, as Rhee only held {A-Clubs}{K-Hearts} for ace-king high, making the {2-Hearts} river a formality.

Asmolov doubled for 17,975 and gets closer to the starting stack once again after a disastrous early spell in this High Roller tournament.

Lee Off to a Good Start

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

The field has grown to 20 with the arrival of Malaysia’s Wai Kiat Lee, whom we caught involved in a sizable pot against Japan’s Jun Obara.

We missed the pre-flop raise sizing but arrived just in time to see the dealer spread the {q-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop in a three-way hand involving Obara (small blind), Lee (middle position) and Bach Hoang Nguyen (button) with over 2,000 in blinds and antes already in the pot.

Obara checked the action over to Lee, who led out for 800 and while this was enough to get Nguyen to bow out Obara made the call to take play heads-up to the {6-Hearts} turn.

Obara checked once more and Lee fired a 2,800 second barrel, which Obara called fairly swiftly and the dealer peeled off the {a-Diamonds} river.

The Japanese player checked for a third time and Lee bet big, firing out a bet of 8,100. Obara called immediately but could only tap the table and muck when Lee turned over {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} for a rivered top set.

Li and Hermann Chop It Up

Level 3 : 100/200, 25 ante

Hand 1

Edward Yam raised to 500 from the cutoff and Hoang Long Do defended the small blind to see a flop of {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}. Do checked, Yam bet 600 and called a check-raise to 1,600. Do then checked the Ah] turn and Yam won the pot with a bet of 1,350.

Hand 2

With 4,500 in the middle and the turn showing {K-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{5-Clubs}, Xiaoling Li checked and Simon Hermann bet 2,500 into a pot of 4,500. Li check-raised to 6,900 and Hermann called before the {8-Spades} river completed the board. Li made it 10,200 to go and Hermann used one time-bank chip, the second player to do so after Jun Obara, before eventually tossing in a single chip for the call.

Li turned over {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for kings and queens, and Hermann had an equally strong hand with {K-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}.

Asmolov takes from Falcon; Burns Shoves Into Miyakita

Simon Burns

On the turn of a board {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{Q-Spades}, Timofey Asmolov checked out of the big blind and Michael Falcon made it 3,500 to go from the button, which Asmolov called. Both checked the {A-Diamonds} river and Falcon's {K-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} ended up second best to the ace-seven of the Russian. "Straight draw," Asmolov shrugged after Falcon had sighed.

The next hand, a big pot was brewing between Kota Miyakita and Simon Burns in the big blind. The latter checked the {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop and check-raised to 6,000 after a bet of 2,500 by Miyakita. Once the Japanese called, the {7-Spades} came on the turn and Burns bet 9,000, Miyakita called.

The {3-Hearts} river completed the board and Burns immediately moved all in for effectively 33,500, as that's what Miyakita had left. It proved to be too much for the Japanese, and he folded to see Burns rake in a big pot without showdown.

Falcon First to Forfeit all Chips

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante
Michael Falcon
Michael Falcon

On the heads-up flop of {10-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Clubs}, the remaining 13,000 chips of Michael Falcon went into the middle of the table and Timofey Asmolov quickly called.

Michael Falcon: {6-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Timofey Asmolov: {K-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Falcon was in desperate shape and needed running sixes for quads to avoid elimination. It was all over after the {8-Spades} turn and Falcon grabbed his time-bank chips and tossed them towards the muck while the {2-Hearts} river officially completed the board. Falcon became the first casualty of the tournament, and Asmolov's recent rise brought him well above the starting stack.
