Daniil Kiselev Leads After Day 1 of the High Roller, Sebastian Malec and Randy Lew in Contention

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

Daniil Kiselev and Anestis Anagnostidis lead after Day 1

While the record-breaking €1,100 Main Event of the 2017 PokerStars Festival Rozvadov saw more than 500 players return to the tables at the poker arena in the King's Casino, the next highlight was gearing up soon after. Day 1 of the €2,200 High Roller got underway with four tables, but that soon increased with big names dropping out of one tournament and jumping right into the action again.

Ultimately, 95 unique players entered and took advantage of the unlimited re-entry option during the first eight levels of 40 minutes each. An additional 23 bullets were fired to create a 118-entry field with a prize pool of €228,920, and just 29 hopefuls remained and bagged up chips at the end of level 14.

Leading the field of survivors is Daniil Kiselev with 286,000, followed by Anestis Anagnostidis (239,500) and Dorin Rauta (236,500). Other big names made it into the top 10 overnight with 2016 EPT Barcelona champion Sebastian Malec (223,000), PokerStars Team Online Pro Randy "nanonoko" Lew (186,500) and Antoine Vranken (147,000).

Still in contention for the trophy and first-place payout of €47,929 is shared €1,100 Main Event bubble boy Pietro Errante Parrino (136,000), who was one of three players to get eliminated during the same hand and split the minimum cash. €5,300 King's High Roller runner up Eugene Katchalov is among the short stacks with 72,500, which also applies to Aviv Meiri (66,000) and [Removed:197] (42,000).

Among those to fire more than one bullet and failing to advance to Day 2 were Kully Sidhu, Rasmus Agerskov, Andrey Andreev, Jonas Lauck, Pierre Neuville and €5,300 King's High Roller champion Vladimir Troyanovskiy. PokerStars Team Pro Marcin Horecki also took part, but was sent to the rail halfway through the day.

The rise of Kiselev and Anagnostidis started with a three-way all in. While Kiselev had pocket aces versus ace-king and the pocket tens of 2016 Colossus runner-up Jiri Horak, Anagnostidis was at risk with jacks against the pocket eights of Tomas Soderstrom and the pocket kings of Leonardo Mancuso. A jack appeared on the river to save the Greek and from then on the stack only knew one direction.

Lew went on a hot run and sent several players to the rise including Neuville, while Boris Kuzmanovic took care of Marcin Chmielewski with pocket kings versus pocket queens. Kiselev then scooped a massive pot by eliminating Viktor Lavi with pocket jacks versus ten-eight suited. Lavi had turned two pair and Kiselev had the overpair and straight draw when the chips went in, a seven on the river improved the Russian to a straight.

Several players ran out of chips in the last level of the night including Vlado Banicevic, and the money spots are just nine eliminations away when the action resumes at 2 p.m. local time with level 15 and blinds of 2,000-4,000 with a running ante of 500.

"A woman goes to see a doctor in the USA to get her test results. The doctor says 'First you have to pay me. It costs $302.' The woman reaches into her wallet and hands the doctor $300. The doctor looks at the money, looks at the woman, and says 'tumour'."

It's clear to me now why the players remaining in the PokerStars Festival Rozvadov Main Event are sat down playing cards instead of on stage telling jokes.

Kiselev Busts Lavi

Level 12 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Daniil Kiselev
Daniil Kiselev

David Urban has consistently built the stack, but that is nothing compared to the tower that Daniil Kiselev can now call his own. On the {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{3-Spades}{8-Diamonds} turn, Kiselev bet and his table neighbor Viktor Lavi pushed for 52,100 in total. Kiselev eventually called and the cards were tabled.

Viktor Lavi: {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}
Daniil Kiselev: {J-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}

The Russian was not very happy when he saw the cards of his opponent, and then jumped out of his seat and banged on the table upon spotting the {7-Spades} river, which gave him a straight. Lavi was eliminated and Kiselev soared to the top of the counts.

Jonas Lauck Eliminated

Level 11 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Jonas Lauck
Jonas Lauck

After a raise by Randy Lew, Jonas Lauck moved all in from the button and Pavel Gavrish called for less out of the big blind. Lew folded and saw Lauck's stack reduced to all but dust, as the German's {J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} stood no chance against Gavrish's kings.

Lauck then chopped with {Q-Spades}{2-Clubs} against the {Q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} of Lew before shoving for his very last 1,600. Phillipp Teipel raised to 3,800 and the rest of the table folded.

Jonas Lauck: {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}
Phillipp Teipel: {Q-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}

The flop of {K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{9-Clubs} gave Teipel a straight, but Lauck could still hope for a miracle with the nut flush draw. However, both the {6-Hearts} turn and {A-Spades} river bricked and that sent Lauck to the rail.

Tomas Soderstrom Eliminated

Tomas Soderstrom on the Final Table of the €5,300 King's High Roller
Tomas Soderstrom on the Final Table of the €5,300 King's High Roller

A few days ago, Tomas Soderstrom finished third in the €5,300 King's High Roller, but the Swede won't be able to repeat this success this time.

After a raise to 2,800 by Leonardo Mancuso, Anestis Anagnostidis moved all in for his last 16,900 from the button and Soderstrom reshoved from the big blind for around twice of that. Initial raiser Mancuso quickly folded to see the trio flip over a pocket pair each, and Mancuso was in prime position to eliminate two opponents.

Anestis Anagnostidis: {J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}
Tomas Soderstrom: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}
Leonardo Mancuso: {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The board came {9-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} and Anagnostidis rivered a jack to triple up, while Soderstrom was sent to the rail.

Right after, both Michel Chen and Roman Cieslik were eliminated as well.

Katchalov Busts Battista

Level 8 : 400/800, 100 ante
Eugene Katchalov
Eugene Katchalov

After a raise by the hijack, Eugene Katchalov called in the cutoff and Pablo Battista came along from the big blind. On a flop of {A-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Spades}, the action was checked to the initial raiser and he continued for 2,200, both Katchalov and Battista called.

On the {5-Hearts} turn, Battista then led for 3,000. The initial raiser folded and Katchalov raised to 12,000 with the Italian then moving all in. Katchalov quickly called and both players turned over an ace.

Pablo Battista: {A-Hearts}{4-Spades}
Eugene Katchalov: {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}

The {2-Clubs} on the river was a blank and the stacks were counted. Katchalov had 46,100 and Battista less to see the Italian join the rail.

Lew is "Killing the Table"

Level 7 : 300/600, 100 ante
Randy "nanonoko" Lew
Randy "nanonoko" Lew

The pot wasn't really big, only around 16,000 chips, with the board reading {A-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{A-Spades}{9-Spades}, and Rasmus Agerskov bet 10,700 out of the small blind with about as much behind. Randy Lew dashed out a big stack of T-5,000 chips forward to move all in and Agerskov was sent into the think tank during his massage.

Ultimately, the time was called and the one minute ran down. With 20 seconds left, Agerskov called. Lew turned over {A-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} for the nut full house. "Do I have to show now?" Agerskov asked with a grin on the face, and then flashed {A-Clubs}{5-Clubs}.

[Removed:170] noted "you are killing the table, one by one," to Lew, who let out a big smile. The PokerStars Team Pro moved into the top spot towards the end of the registration period.

Malec Sends Mor to the Rail

Level 6 : 250/500, 75 ante
Sebastian Malec
Sebastian Malec

After a raise by Eric Mor and a call by Sebastian Malec from one seat over on the button, the big blind squeezed to 4,000 and both Mor and Malec called. The {Q-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} flop was checked to Mor and he bet 7,500, only Malec called and then saw his opponent check the {10-Clubs} turn.

Malec moved all in for effectively 20,500, as that's what Mor had left, and the latter eventually called.

Eric Mor: {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Sebastian Malec: {K-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The {A-Clubs} river was a blank for Mor and he was been eliminated, but already mentioned to consider re-entering.

Meiri Among Next Casualties

Level 4 : 150/300, 50 ante
Aviv Meiri
Aviv Meiri

The seat of Aviv Meiri was occupied by another player and Marcin Jaworski had a decent stack. The Pole confirmed what happened, taking all chips of Meiri.

According to Jaworski, he opened to 800 from the button and Meiri in the small blind as well as the big blind called. On the {Q-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{2-} flop, it was checked to Jaworski and he continued for 1,500, which only Meiri called. Meiri then check-called another 3,000 on the {3-Hearts} turn before leading the {A-Diamonds} river for 6,500.

Jaworski moved all in for 22,500 and Meiri called with {A-}{10-} only to see Jaworski turn over {A-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for the nut flush.

Claudio Monteforte and Mikhael Bernchtein have been eliminated as well.

Get Ready for More High Roller Action in Rozvadov

The poker arena is buzzing in the King's Casino
The poker arena is buzzing in the King's Casino

In 90 minutes from now, the next highlight of the 2017 PokerStars Festival Rozvadov will get underway with Day 1 of the €2,200 High Roller kicking off in the poker arena of the King's Casino. Many familiar faces of the festival thus far are expected back in action, unless they are still in the record-breaking €1,100 Main Event.

All participants will receive 30,000 in chips and a total of 14 levels of 40 minutes each are scheduled for Day 1. The registration and unlimited re-entries are available throughout the first eight levels, and a break is scheduled every three hours. A bumper field is expected to follow into the footsteps of a very successful series at the King's Casino.

The first PokerStars Festival High Roller saw 166 players pony up £2,200 at the iconic Hippodrome Casino in London back in January and further 12 participants fired a second bullet. Ultimately it was Joe Johnson who emerged victorious after cutting a deal with Enzo Del Piero, converting a casino promotion package into a payday of £59,912.
