Another Roman Empire Ends

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Roman Mikus
Roman Mikus

There was an opening raise to 26,000 in early position and Roman Mikus called with about 80,000 behind. Georgios Manousos then stuck out a big stack of 25k chips, to cover everyone else.

The initial raiser folded and Mikus called off the rest of his chips.

Manousos: {7-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}
Mikus: {7-Spades}{6-Spades}

The board ran out {J-Spades}{Q-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and despite flopping a flush draw and turning a pair, Mikus couldn't improve on the river and the Day 1a chip leader was eliminated.

Marc Palatzky and former EPT finalist Konstantinos Nanos have also busted.

Karman Chameleon

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Nikolay Karman has changed from a short stack to a slightly less short-stack. He was all in with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} against Konstantinos Nanos' {Q-Spades}{9-Diamonds} and neither player hit the {7-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board. Nanos dropped to 125,000 and Karman doubled up to about 200,000.

Break Time

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Players are on their final break of the day. After that they'll play three more levels (2 hours) and then the tournament will be finished for the day. With 34 players left, it's unlikely the final table of eight will be reached in this time.

Gulas Cooked

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Dimitrios Ballas opened to 25,000 from late position and Josef Gulas made it 95,000 on the button next to him. Ballas checked the Czech player's stack and moved all in.

Gulas sighed, "I supposed I have to call," and he put his remaining 120,000 in the middle.

Ballas: {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}
Gulas: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}

The board came {K-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and Ballas' aces stayed good - but not without a sweat.

Fall of a Roman Empire

Level 19 : 5,000/10,000, 1,000 ante

Roman Cieslik moved all in for his last 30,000 preflop and he was in high spirits, clearly enjoying his time at the table, "Yeah baby, here we gooooo!"

Marek Bartoszewicz flicked in the call from the big blind.

Cieslik shouted, "Aces!" and turned over {Q-Clubs}{10-Clubs}. Bartoszewicz flipped {K-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

"Do you want to bet on the hands?" said Cieslik dropping two €50 notes on the table. Bartoszewicz declined.

The flop came and the {10-Diamonds} was the first card out, "Yeaaah, baby! That's what I'm talking..." The rest of the flop came out {2-Diamonds} and {K-Diamonds}. Cieslik stopped speaking. The {3-Spades} turn and {J-Clubs} river changed nothing and the German player was knocked out.
