RIU Reno Dealer Marcio Peixoto Nabs Himself a Trophy in 8-Game Mix
While PokerNews is focused on bringing you live updates from the $600 Main Event, we also wanted to share some winner news from earlier in the Run It Up Reno IX. There have been several champions crowned at the Peppermill, and tens of thousands of dollars awarded.
Event #17: $125 8-Game Mix saw 157 runners create a $15,229 prize pool – well ahead of the $10K guarantee – and paid out the top 25 finishers.
Among those to cash but fall short of making the final table were Casey Martin (9th - $320), Andy Camou (11th - $320), Jim Petzing (19th - $200), and Jesper Olsen (23rd - $200).
John Paul Portal was looking for his second title of the series after winning $235 NL Progressive Knockout for $5,111, but he had to settle for second place for $2,500 after a heads-up deal with Marcio Peixoto, who is actually at the Peppermill to deal the RIU Reno IX. The Brazilian took some time away from slinging cards to play some, and it paid off as he claimed the trophy and $2,682 in prize money.
