Apostol Gets a Bad River Against Cochran

Level 2 : 100/200, 200 ante
Tyson Apostol
Tyson Apostol

Three players invested 800 to see the turn on a {k-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{9-Spades} board, and Brandon King checked from under the gun. Tyson Apostol bet 1,500 from the hijack, Travis Cochran called on the button, and King folded.

Apostol checked the {10-Hearts} river to Cochran, who bet 5,000. Apostol called, and after Cochran showed his {k-Clubs}{q-Hearts} for a straight, Apostol showed {k-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a defeated two pair.

Value Bet for "BetOnDrew"

Level 1 : 100/100, 100 ante
Drew Gonzalez in the Thursday Thrilla
Drew Gonzalez in the Thursday Thrilla

Thirst Lounge streamer Drew Gonzalez is on fire at Run It Up Reno. Gonzalez took down the Moneymaker Tour event for a $30,000 Platinum Pass, and followed up that finish by cashing in the $1,100 Thursday Thrilla.

Gonzalez is in the field for Day 1a of the Main Event, and he won an early pot that developed as a three-way hand with Jared Shipley on the cutoff, Gonzalez on the button and a third player on the big blind.

With the board showing {q-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, action checked to Gonzalez on the button, and "BetOnDrew" announcd a 500 bet. The big blind called, and Shipley folded.

The big blind checked again on the {q-Clubs} river, Gonzalez bet 600, and got the call. Gonzalez showed {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} for top pair, and the opponent mucked.

The Run It Up Reno IX $600 Main Event is here! The ninth chapter of the Run It Reno series begins its climax today, as Day 1a begins at noon at the Peppermill Resort in Reno, Nevada.

Day 1a is the first of two opening day flights in this $300,000 guaranteed tournament. Players will start with 30,000 starting chips and play through 14 40-minute levels today, with 15-minute breaks after every three levels, and a 60-minute dinner break after Level 9. The blinds and antes start at 100/100/100, going up to 2,000/4,000/4,000 by the end of Level 14. Play will go for fourteen levels or until 16% of the field remains, whichever comes first.

Some of the names that could show up for the Main Event include Run It Up founder Jason Somerville, along with RIU ambassadors Andrew Neeme, Arlie Shaban, and Ricky “ratedGTO” Guan.

Other players who have been in the mix in earlier events at Run It Up Reno IX include Brad Owen, Drew Gonzalez, Jimmy
Cappucci, Jesse Sylvia
and Loren Klein.

The defending champion in this event, Dan O’Brien, has been on hand at the Peppermill Resort over the past week. O’Brien topped a field of 629 entries in April at Run It Up Reno VIII, taking home a first-place prize of $46,681. O’Brien topped Klein in the heads-up battle, and it’s a good bet that both will be in action in one of the opening day flights of the Main Event.

With the 629 entries, the previous installment of the Main Event ended up awarding a total prize pool of $329,471.

Follow along with the PokerNews live reporting team as the $600 Main Event kicks off today.
