Among those to get a piece of it but fall short of the final table were Joe Brandenburg (7th - $660), James Petzing (12th - $440), Jason Somerville (14th - $360), and James Brundige (16th - $360).

The UK’s Adam Owen, who now resides in Mexico City, finished on top to win a shiny RIU trophy and $5,955 first-place prize.

The Ladies Love Sweigard

Level 7 : 300/600, 600 ante

An under-the-gun player opened for 1,400 only to have Greg Sweigard three-bet to 3,500 from middle position. Action folded back to the UTG player and he called to see an {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{8-Hearts} flop, which he checked.

Sweigard moved all in for his last 10,400 and the UTG player thought for a bit before making the call.

UTG: {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}
Sweigard: {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades}

Sweigard was way out in front and stayed there when the {9-Diamonds} peeled off on the turn followed by the {6-Spades} on the river.

Harada Doubles Through Brightly

Level 8 : 400/800, 800 ante

Holly Brightly opened with a raise and wound up calling a three-bet jam to 11,000 from Roger Harada.

Harada: {a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}
Brightly: {q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}

The {3-Hearts}{5-Spades}{a-Hearts} flop made things interesting by giving Harada top pair and Brightly a flush draw. The {10-Clubs} turn improved Harada to two pair, and he shipped the double when the {4-Diamonds} bricked on the river.
