Berthelsen Gets the Best of Byers

Level 8 : Blinds 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Kevin Berthelsen
Kevin Berthelsen

Kevin Berthelsen opened the action with a raise to 2,500 and Zach Byers three-bet to 7,000. Berthelsen then four-bet to 14,000 and Byers made the call.

The flop of 8A2 went check-check as did the 4 turn. On the 6 river, Berthelsen put out a small bet of 3,500.

"I can't fold now, I know you're probably good," said Byers as he flicked in the call only to see the bad news when Berthelsen tabled KK to scoop the pot.

The next hand, Berthelsen raised to 2,500 and Byers three-bet jammed for 26,200 to put himself at risk. Berthelsen made the call.

Zach Byers: AK All in
Kevin Berthelsen: 99

Byers pulled ahead on the 310K flop, pairing his king. The turn landed the A and only a nine on the river would eliminate Byers.

The river brought exactly that - the 9 and Byers hit the rail in dramatic fashion.

Schoonover Fades the River to Double

Level 9 : Blinds 1,000/1,500, 1,500 ante

Action picked up on the turn with a sizable pot brewing in a hand between Robert Schoonover in the hijack and Chad Boehnke in the cutoff.

With about 70,000 in the middle and the board reading K9JQ, Schoonover moved all in for 31,000 and Boehnke called with the covering stack.

Robert Schoonover: AK All in
Chad Boehnke: AQ

Schoonover would need to dodge a queen or a heart to stay alive and he did exactly that when the 4 rolled off on the river.

Kevin Berthelsen raised to 3,500 in early position and Molly Mossey defended in the big blind.

The dealer put a monotone flop of 698 and Mossey check-called a bet of 6,000 from Berthelsen.

The turn landed the Q bringing a fourth heart on the board and both players slowed down with a check.

The river brought the 4, putting a flush on the board and Mossey led out with a bet of 5,000, prompting Berthelsen to toss his cards into the muck.

After an under-the-gun raise and two calls, Terence Reid moved all in for 60,000 in the hijack. Arlie Brandvold called on the button for about 30,000 and the other three players got out of the way.
