Let's Do It Again -- Day 1b Set to Begin

RunGood Poker Series
RunGood Poker Series

The RunGood Poker Series Horseshoe Casino $675 buy-in, $100,000 guaranteed Main Event in Council Bluffs, Iowa, which is taking place just across the river from Omaha, Nebraska, kicked off last night with the first of three starting flights, one that attracted 149 entrants and saw 24 survive the night.

Today, many of the fallen, and no doubt a bunch of first-timers, will take their shot in the second flight. Day 1b will kick off at 12:00 p.m. local time and play 13 levels (12 of which will be 30 minutes, and the last one 45 minutes). Then, at 7 p.m. tonight, the third and final flight will take place.

Today we expect to see a bunch of familiar faces including Wisconsinites Josh Reichard and Dan Almerli; World Series of Poker bracelet winner Eric Rodawig; RunGood Downstream champ Saied Moradi; and of course representatives from RunGood Gear including team members Bernard Lee, Jordan Morgan, Jamie Kerstetter, Bryan Campanello, Clint Tolbert, and Joe Hebda.

One RunGood Ambassador we won't see today is Ryan Tepen. That's because the Missourian finished Day 1a with a stack of 330,000, which was enough to make him the Day 1a chip leader. He will return at 12:00 p.m. local time alongside all the Day 1 survivors to play down to a winner, who will receive a nice payday as well as a $10,000 seat into the 2015 World Series of Poker Main Event. Before that happens though, there's plenty of action to be had.

Cards will be in the air shortly, so stay tuned!

Saied Moradi on Day 1a

Back in February, Saied Moradi topped a field of 328 players to win the 2015 RunGoodGear.com Poker Series Main Event at the Downstream Casino Resort, which is located on the outskirts of Joplin, Missouri. As part of a four-way chop, Moradi took home $27,116 for his performance.

Moradi took a shot here in Council Bluffs yesterday, but failed to make it through. Not surprisingly, he's back on Day 1b to give it another go, and this time he's gotten off to a hot start by scoring the first elimination of the day.

It happened when Paul Koskovich of Sioux Falls opened for 225 from early position and Moradi called from the hijack. Isaac Tucker then three-bet to 600 from the button, Koskovich called, and Moradi pushed back with a four-bet to 3,225. Tucker called, as did Koskovich, and all three players took a flop of {8-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}.

Koskovich checked, Moradi bet 6,000, and Tucker got out of the way. Koskovich proceeded to check-raise all in, and Moradi snap-called.

Moradi: {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}
Koskovich: {a-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Moradi was ahead with two pair, but Koskovich help a flush draw. Unfortunately for him, neither the {8-Spades} turn nor {10-Diamonds} river completed it and Koskovich became the first elimination of Day 1b, though he did ask where he should go to reenter.

Trimble Vanquished By Vanier

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

With around 14,000 in the pot and a flop of {q-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{3-Spades}, Nick Trimble moved all in from early position for his last 3,775 and Mike Vanier thought for a bit before calling from the hijack.

Trimble: {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}
Vanier: {a-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}

Vanier explained Trimble didn't really have any fold equity as the pot was laying him such good odds. Whatever the case, Trimble got it in good, but his lead disappeared after the dealer burned and turned the {K-Diamonds}. The {5-Spades} river was no help to Trimble, and he was eliminated from the tournament.

Meanwhile, Paul Koskovich, the first player eliminated from the tournament, has reentered.
