Jack Matsuura Victorious in RGPS CardPlayer Cruise Event #1: $170 Pro Bounty NLH

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Jack Matsuura
Jack Matsuura

Last weekend, the RunGood Poker Series was on the high seas! They partnered with CardPlayer Cruises to host a series of events on a seven-day cruise in the Caribbean. There was a ton of poker action, and we thought it’d be fun to highlight some of the events right here in the blog.

In Event #1: $170 Pro Bounty NLH, 115 runners created an $8,750 prize pool that was paid out to the top seven players. Poker Hall of Famer Linda Johnson was one of the bounties and made it all the way to fourth place, though she was ineligible for the prize. That meant an extra spot got paid.

In the end, Jack Matsuura came out on top to win a $3,062 first-place prize.

Hitt Up Against Flopped Quads But Still Drawing Live

Level 10 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante
Patrick Dorothy
Patrick Dorothy

We happened upon the action on a {4-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop after Don Hitt got his last approximately 40,000 all in against Patrick Dorothy.

Patrick Dorothy: {4-Spades}{4-Clubs}
Don Hitt: {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}

Dorothy had flopped quad fours but Hitt was drawing live to an up-and-down straight flush draw. He was looking for either the deuce or six of diamonds, but it wasn't meant to be as the {k-Clubs} bricked on the turn followed by the {2-Spades} on the river.

Ellis Gets River Value from Bennett

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante
Matt Ellis
Matt Ellis

Aaron Mitchell limped the button and Jon Bennett responded by raising to 10,000 from the small blind. Matt Ellis called out of the big, Mitchell folded, and it was a blind-on-blind battle headed to the {3-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} flop.

Both players checked and did the same on the {k-Spades} turn.

When the {6-Hearts} completed the board on the river, Bennett checked for the third time and Ellis bet 14,000.

Bennett called only to muck when Ellis rolled over the {k-Hearts}{q-Spades} for top pair.

Bogdanovezc Binks a Double

Level 11 : 1,000/2,000, 2,000 ante

The player in the cutoff raised to 5,000 only to have Brent Bogdanovezc three-bet all in for 18,200 from the button. Both blinds folded and the original raiser made the call.

Brent Bogdanovezc: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Cutoff: {6-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Bogdanovezc was ahead and maintained it when he paired his jack on the {j-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} flop. The {9-Spades} turn gave his opponent more outs, but the {q-Diamonds} river was a safe card to give Bogdanovezc a double in the penultimate level of the night.

Keathley Flops the Goods

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante
Tiffany Keathley
Tiffany Keathley

The player in the hijack raised to 4,000 and Thomas ross called from the cutoff before Tiffany Keathley three-bet to 12,000 from the button. Both blinds folded, the hijack called, and Ross got out of the way before the flop came down {8-Spades}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Action went check-check and the dealer burned and turned the {9-Diamonds}. The hijack check-called a bet of 7,000 and then checked for the third time on the {2-Diamonds} river.

Keathley bet again, this time 13,000, and the hijack called with the {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}. It was no good though as Keathley had flopped trips with her {8-Clubs}{6-Hearts}.

Surritte Wakes Up with the Granddaddy of All Hands

Level 12 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

The player in the hijack open-jammed for approximately 35,000 and action folded to AJ Surritte, who called off for 18,400 from the big blind.

AJ Surritte: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}
Hijack: {j-Spades}{8-Spades}

Surritte woke up with the best hand in poker, but the {6-Spades}{8-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop made things interesting by giving his opponent both a pair and flush draw. The {a-Hearts} turn improved Surritte to a set and he shipped the double after the {9-Diamonds} was run out on the river.
