Benjamin Wallace Finishes on Top of Day 1C; Holds Overall Chip Lead
That's a wrap on the Day 1 starting flights of the 2019 Seminole Hard Rock May Deep Stack Series $1,650 No-Limit Hold’em Deepest Stack.
There were 115 entry slips sold for this final flight. After 14 levels of play, only 34 competitors from the Day 1c flight moved on to the final day.
Benjamin Wallace finished on top of the counts with 497,000 in the bag and holds the overall chip lead going into Day 2. Wallace started chipping up during the last levels of the night. Timothy Miles bagged the second biggest stack of the last flight with 400,000. Miles got second in this event last year after a heads-up deal and will be looking to make another deep run.
Other big names who found a bag at the end of the night included Dan Chalifour (192,000), Allen Kessler (139,000), Brett Bader (126,000), Craig Varnell (106,000), and David Moses (82,000).
Some of the notables who took a shot at this last flight but weren't lucky enough to make it through were Phil Hui, Josh Beckley, Nicholas Palma, and Jason Wandling.
All in all, the event has generated a total of 240 entrants with late registration and re-entry open until the start of play on Day 2. As of now, 66 competitors will return to the tournament area on Sunday at 12 p.m. local time to continue to battle it out until a winner is crowned.
