Day 1e Completed
The fifth starting flight of the 2014 Seneca Niagara Summer Slam $50,000 Guaranteed event kicked off Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. The $125 no-limit hold'em event drew a field of 136 total entries, bringing the total field number to 564 with one flight still left to go Wednesday evening. After 12 levels of play in Flight E only 26 players remained, all of whom will return Thursday to play for the Event #5 title.
Leading the 26 survivors at the end of Flight E was Hoss Colao with 148,400. Colao provided plenty of entertainment early in the day with his friendly battles against two-time Summer Slam champ Joe Ciffa. Ciffa got the best of Colao first, eliminating him in a cooler spot when both turned a full house, but Colao re-entered and got those chips back and more against Ciffa later in the day.
Joining Colao in the century club at the end of Flight E were Jason Nablo (133,400), John Regan (121,500), Chris Drake (106,200) and Emmett Caldwell (104,300). Others advancing to Day 2 are Rob Bourkney, Peter Raimondi, Alicia Pachla, Ray Book and D.J. MacKinnon.
The Final flight of the event (Flight F) is already underway this evening. Be sure to stay tuned to our continuous coverage of Event #5 throughout the week!

The tournament staff stopped the clock and drew a number three from the deck, which means there will only be three more hands in Flight E before players bag and tag for the night. We'll have a full chip count list and a recap upon the completion of play.

Ryan Press opened from middle position and Frank Lukacovic three-bet to 10,000 from directly behind. Back on Press, he moved all in for 38,000 and Lukacovic called.

Press:
It was all over quickly as the dealer fanned a flop to give Press quads, and the turn and river left Lukacovic with less than 8,000 in chips. He was eliminated on the next hand.

Ray Book raised to 4,000 from under the gun and action folded to Hoss Colao who shoved for 24,000 from the button. The small blind folded and the big blind reshoved, prompting Book to fold. Cards on their backs.
Colao:
Big Blind:
Colao was in dire need of some help and it looked bleak on the flop. The on the turn left him drawing to three outs, but sure enough the peeled off on the river to give him a winning pair and the double.
