A 33-year-old special education teacher from Derby, NY, won the first event on the 2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic schedule on Sunday night.

Kristan Mackiewicz took down the $50,000 guaranteed $200 No-Limit Hold'em opening event after making a deal both five-handed and three-handed, chopping up the remaining prize money and collecting $11,365 in winnings.

The tournament drew 599 entries over four starting flights this weekend, creating a guarantee-smashing $96,738 prize pool. From there, 90 survivors pushed through to Sunday's Day 2 with the 54-player money bubble in sight.

The bubble popped around 2 .p.m. local time with Geoffrey O'Connor taking the lead into the final 54. Some five hours later, local cash grinder Chris Gras bubbled the 10-handed final table and Dominic Baranyi took the lead into the play down to a champion with Mackiewicz eighth of 10.

Art Demmerley was the first to exit, losing a race to Mackiewicz, before start-of-day chip leader Michael Davis fell ninth.

Kevin Reyes then got short and ran into O'Connor's jacks to exit eighth. After getting aces cracked to fall short, Mackiewicz found a miracle runner-runner straight to climb out of a dominated spot against Silvio DeRubeis. It was actually DeRubeis who busted next, losing a race to the chip leading Baranyi.

After Joe Ciffa fell sixth, a five-handed deal was struck, giving all five players even money and saving $5,000 for first.

Soon after, O'Connor busted with a weak ace versus the queens of Mackiewicz to go out fifth, and Baranyi got it in with two pair against a set for Mackiewicz to go out fourth, leaving Todd Saffron, Brad Bourne, and Mackiewicz three-handed.

While Mackiewicz started with a huge lead, Bourne snatched it away by cracking her queens with a weak ace before talk of another deal began. Eventually they would all agree on an even chop of the money set aside for first, a big tip for the dealers, and a flip for the trophy — which Mackiewicz won.

This ends PokerNews' coverage of Event #1 here at Seneca Niagara, but stay tuned to these pages as our coverage of the 2015 Seneca Fall Poker Classic continues at 11 a.m. Monday with the first of six starting flights in Event #3, $100 No-Limit Hold'em.

Dominic Baranyi Eliminated in 4th Place ($10,165)

Level 28 : 30,000/60,000, 5,000 ante
Dominic Baranyi
Dominic Baranyi

Kristan Mackiewicz moved all in out of position on the turn of a {2-Clubs}{k-Spades}{8-Spades}{9-Spades} board and Dominic Baranyi decided he would go with it, moving all in himself.

Mackiewicz called with the {2-Spades}{2-Hearts} for bottom set and Baranyi had the {k-Hearts}{8-Diamonds} two pair. The river came the {a-Spades} making Mackiewicz a flush, and after the chips were counted, she had more.

With Baranyi out fourth, Mackiewicz takes a big lead into three handed play.

Dominic Baranyi led 90,000 into a 180,000-chip pot on a {9-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} flop and Joe Ciffa jammed in for about one million.

Baranyi took his time, but made the call with the {q-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} and was ahead of Ciffa's {a-Spades}{6-Spades}.

Baranyi faded a spade on the {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} run out to bust Ciffa and increase his lead on the remaining field.

Silvio DeRubeis shoved over a Todd Saffron open and big stack Dominic Baranyi shoved over the top of him. Saffron folded and the hands were revealed.

DeRubeis: {9-Diamonds}{9-Spades}
Baranyi: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

The race was over rather quick as Baranyi made a pair on the turn of a {k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{7-Diamonds} run out to send DeRubeis packing seventh.

Kevin Reyes got one shove through, but the second in a row, this time for 209,000, was called by Geoffrey O'Connor when he found {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} in the small blind.

Reyes was in tough with the {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} and never found any footing on the {7-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} board to go bust eighth.

Kristan Mackiewicz made it 75,000 and Art Demmerley pushed in on her direct left for almost 400,000.

Mackiewicz quickly called with the {a-Clubs}{k-Spades} and Demmerley was racing for his tournament life with the {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}.

The {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{k-Clubs} board was a monster one for Mackiewicz as she made two pair to win the race and bust Demmerley.

Massive Cooler Puts Baranyi Ahead Big

Level 23 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
Dominic Baranyi
Dominic Baranyi

Todd Saffron opened to 60,000 from the button and [Removed:339] flatted from the small blind.

Dominic Baranyi bumped it to 150,000 from the big blind and while Saffron folded, [Removed:340] called. The flop came {k-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{5-Spades} and after Baranyi led out for 200,000, [Removed:340] shoved.

Baranyi called off some 600,000 with the {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} and was light years ahead of [Removed:340]'s {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. Baranyi held on the {7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} run out to snatch the 1.7 million chip pot and [Removed:340] was left crippled, busting the very next hand.

[Removed:340] Cracks Klis' Kings To Take The Lead

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Erik Klis
Erik Klis

Erik Klis and Joseph [Removed:340] just got it all in preflop in a one-million-chip pot with Klis holding the {k-Spades}{k-Clubs} and [Removed:340] on {q-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

It was a massive cooler, but things flipped upside down when the board rolled out {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} giving [Removed:340] a set.

[Removed:340] had Klis barely covered and as he jumped into the lead, Klis left with a bad beat story and a 20th-place finish.
