The 2017 Western New York Poker Challenge continued this afternoon with the third of four flights in the $100,000 guaranteed $300 No Limit Hold'em Event #1.

The flight drew 201 entries, putting the total up to 468 and surpassing the guarantee with one more starting flight still to come this evening.

By the time 14 levels of play were through in the second flight, just 30 survived with Mark Allott leading the pack. Three players bagged 200,000 or more in what was an action packed heat.

All the surviving players will return to play down to a winner on Sunday nearing the money bubble. After three flights, the total going through to Sunday is now 72 and counting.

However, Event #1 on the WNYPC schedules continues tonight with the final starting flight beginning at 6 p.m. local time.

Western New Yorkers are a tough breed. Living through long, hard winters and being battered by lake effect snow instills a certain strength in the locals here.

Come the first signs of Spring, they head straight to the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino to put it on display. It's time for the annual Western New York Poker Challenge, and having met every other challenge put before them, the people from this neck of the woods are more than ready for this one.

The 2017 instillation of this annual tournament series continues today at 10 a.m. local time with the third of four flights in the $100,000 guaranteed $300 No Limit Hold'em Event #1. The fourth and final flight will go off at 6 p.m. this evening as well.

The first two flights Friday drew 267 entries and all indications are the event is well on its way to smashing the guarantee. So far, just 42 players have pushed through to Sunday's final day where they will play down to a winner.

Today, like all the other starting flights, they'll start with 15,000 in chips and a plan to play 14 levels half-hour levels with registration and unlimited re-entry available through the first eight. It should be another hotly contested heat.

Get your popcorn ready, PokerNews' continuing coverage from the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino is about to start.
