Day 1c Completed

30 Survive The Third Of Four Flights

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante
Mark Allott

The 2017 Western New York Poker Challenge continued this afternoon with the third of four flights in the $100,000 guaranteed $300 No Limit Hold'em Event #1.

The flight drew 201 entries, putting the total up to 468 and surpassing the guarantee with one more starting flight still to come this evening.

By the time 14 levels of play were through in the second flight, just 30 survived with Mark Allott leading the pack. Three players bagged 200,000 or more in what was an action packed heat.

All the surviving players will return to play down to a winner on Sunday nearing the money bubble. After three flights, the total going through to Sunday is now 72 and counting.

However, Event #1 on the WNYPC schedules continues tonight with the final starting flight beginning at 6 p.m. local time.

Stay tuned for PokerNews' continuing coverage live from the Niagara Falls Poker Room at the Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino.

Allott Leading; Six More Hands

Level 14 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Mark Allot continues to crush as the flight comes to a close.

He busted one player getting it in with fives against queens and hitting a set. Then another when she ran jacks into his aces.

The only thing that can stop his run good seems to be the end of play, which is coming soon. The clock has been stopped with ten minutes left in the level and they will play six more hands.

Bailed Out By The River

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

"Lucky" Mark Allott just got bailed out by the river in a massive pot that has seen him soar over 200,000 in chips and grab the lead.

It was a three way all-in pot with Allott holding a set of eights versus both a made flush and a Broadway straight. A queen on the river paired the board and the 2016 Seneca Fall Poker Classic Main Event fourth-place finisher and lottery winner made a boat to triple up big time.

Heading into the last level of the night it looks like Allott is going to bag a lot.

It Takes Two To Tango

Level 13 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante
Randy Pfeifer
Randy Pfeifer

Randy Pfeifer kept on tangling with Bruce Pace until he finally took away his chip lead.

The six-figure pot that did the trick saw Pfeifer make two pair and call a big 35,000 river bet from Pace after he made top pair jacks on the river.

The venerable Pfeifer is the one closing in one 200,000 now and something tells us he won't be giving away the chip lead so easily. The battle with Pace is over now as well, with Pfeifer getting moved tables moments ago

Two Jacks In The Hole

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 200 ante
Veerab Zakarian
Veerab Zakarian

Raj Ramnauth came in with a standard raise and when it folded to Veerab Zakarian, he slid in all his yellow 5,000 chips.

The raise covered Ramnauth and he tanked it out for a good three minutes before finally making the call with the {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

"Wow, I almost got you to fold," Zakarian said, showing the {5-Spades}{5-Diamonds}. The board ran out {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and only one of Ramnauth's jacks played, but it was enough to double him up.

Zakarian was left with peanuts he turned into dust the very next hand.
