Stagliano Moving Up the Leaderboard

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Jason James opened to 2,700 from the hijack, Nicola Stagliano called from the small blind and George Alemkunnapuzha three-bet to 7,500 from the big blind. James folded, Stagliano made the call and the flop came down {6-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}.

Action checked to Alemkunnapuzha who put in a bet of 9,000 and was swiftly check-raised to 25,000 from Stagliano. Alemkunnapuzha made the call and the turn came the {k-Clubs}.

Stagliano pushed all in for over 60,000 and Alemkunnapuzha quickly made the fold. Stagliano now sits second behind chipleader Barry Kruger as the day is dwindling down to the end.

Alemkunnapuzha Eliminates Wagner from Day 1a

Level 11 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Daniel Wagner just called all in a board that showed {6-}{7-}{6-}{a-}{5-} with his {9-Spades}{8-Spades} for a straight on the river. George Alemkunnapuzha tabled {6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a rivered full house and more than enough to send Wagner home, scooping in the pot in the process of doing so.

James Shows No Fear

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

Jason James opened to 4,000 from under the gun, George Alemkunnapuzha called from the small blind and Peter Raimondi jumped in from the big blind.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{a-Clubs}, action checked to James who led out for 3,000 and was quickly check-raised to 10,000 by Alemkunnapuzha. Raimondi folded and James made the call.

The turn came down a {4-Diamonds}, Alemkunnapuzha pushed in a bet of 15,000, James thought for a moment and decided to move all in for around 85,000 and Alemkunnapuzha quickly folded.

James turned over {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for king high with a flush draw, smiling as he pulled in the pot and added a healthy pot to his stack.

Raimondi Doubles Through Alemkunnapuzha

Level 12 : 800/1,600, 1,600 ante

The board read {6-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{8-Clubs} when Peter Raimondi moved all in for his remaining 18,400 into a pot around 5,000. George Alemkunnapuzha made the call, the players turned over their hands and Raimondi would be at risk of elimination.

Peter Raimondi: {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
George Alemkunnapuzha: {q-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The turn sealed came down the {5-Spades} and Raimondi could no longer be eliminated during the hand. Alemkunnapuzha would need a nine on for a split, but the {3-Diamonds} on the river did not change anything as Raimondi took down the pot with his straight, doubling through Alemkunnapuzha.
