Peter Mancini Leads Final Seven in Seneca Fall Poker Classic Main Event

Level 22 : 8,000/16,000, 16,000 ante
Final Day Chipleader Peter Mancini
Final Day Chipleader Peter Mancini

Day 2 of the Fall Poker Classic $1,000 Main Event had 45 return to play out of the 249 total entries that were accumulated over three Day 1 flights. At the end of the day just seven remain and the person carrying over the biggest stack into the final day is Canadian Peter Mancini, with a massive 2,010,000 in chips.

Mancini hovered around average for a better part of the day, it would not be until the final 11 that he built his stack, after he sent Kevin Boesel out of the tournament in back-to-back hands. Those two hands shot his stack up to a million just in time for the unofficial final table of 10.

During the very first hand of the unofficial final table Mancini would eliminate Jeremy Hoeltke with his cowboys and also find a full double up through, at the time chipleader, Maximilian Droege, catapulting him over the two million mark in just a matter of hands.

Alex Visbisky will be coming into the final day with 1,367,000 in chips, looking to improve on his sixth place finish from last year. He started the day with 166,000 in chips, won a few pots early in the day and started to really stack up his chips after eliminating Day 1a chipleader Barry Kruger. Visbisky used that pot to leverage his chips around, taking down several small pots with the heavy amount of pressure that he applies during each hand he plays.

The only player to finish at the top of their flight and make the final day is Vadim Rozin with 1,359,000 in chips. The Canadian shot into the chip lead early on Day 2 and seemed like he could not be stopped as he was the first to hit several chip count milestones throughout the day. A few bad hands brought him back down to a million, but he managed to fight his way back near the top of the leader board, heading into the final day third in chips.

The rest of the players to round out the final seven include Seneca regular Chris Meyers (910,000), well-known pro Jason James (708,000), St. Louis native Tim Vance (665,000), and coming in as the short-stack is Canadian Victor Adams (451,000).

There were some well-known players to make Day 2 but fail to make the money, that list includes Lue Huang, Blake Napierala, and the 2017 Fall Poker Classic champion Dan Wagner.

Some notables to make the money but not the final day include Day 2 chipleader Amandeep "AJ" Taheem (26th - $1,670), Budwey Salhab (25th - $1,670), David Olshan (23rd - $1,846), Veerab Zakarian (22nd - $1,846), Jason "Big Bird" Sagle (21st - $2,198), Barry Kruger (13th - $3,077), Mario Mansour (12th - $4,176), and Maximilian Droege (8th - $6,154).

The final seven players will return to play Monday the 19th at noon. The final day will begin on level 23 and the blinds starting at 10,000/20,000 with a 20,000 big blind ante. The play will not end until just one player remains and is deemed champion of the 2018 Fall Poker Classic.

Maximilian Droege
Maximilian Droege

Maximilian Droege came into the final table as the leader but lost a large percentage of his stack in the first hand to Peter Mancini.

Droege moved his remaining 300,000 stack all in a few hands later and was called by Chris Meyers, players turned over their hands with Droege at risk of elimination.

Chris Meyers: {a-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Maximilian Droege: {q-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}

The board ran out dry for Meyers as he scooped it in with his aces, sending Droege home earlier than he had hoped after starting the final table at the top of the leader board.

Jason James
Jason James

Jason James opened to 24,000, Thomas Babiarz made the call and the dealer turned over [kxqx3] on the flop. Action checked to James who put in a bet of 24,000, Babiarz check-raised to 60,000 and James made the call.

An {a-} landed on the turn, Babiarz moved all in for around 300,000 and James snap-called. Babiarz tabled {k-}{q-} for two pair and was disgusted when he saw the cards of James who flipped over {a-}{q-}, giving him a higher two pair on the turn.

The river was a brick as James scooped in the pot, eliminating Babiarz from the tournament and drawing himself close to the one million chip mark.

The Fall Poker Classic 2018 Main Event Final Table to be Set

Seneca Niagara Casino
Seneca Niagara Casino

A total of 249 entries were gathered during the three flights of the Fall Poker Classic $1,000 Main Event, and of those just 45 will be returning for a shot at the title on Day 2. The prize pool compiled of the flights came to a total of $219,792 and the players will find out how the money will be spread among the payouts before the start Day 2.

The Day 2 chipleader who came out of the second flight is Amandeep "AJ" Taheem with an immense 439,000. Taheem started the day off slowly, hovering around averaging for about half of it until he hit a run of cards that most players can only dream of having. The best part about his run of cards is how he managed to get max value every time. Aj will be coming in hot, but he wont be giving any chips away as he has showed the amount of patience needed to win a marathon of a tournament like this.

The flight that had the smallest amount of slips sold was Day 1a, but Canadian Barry Kruger wouldn't change a thing as he came out on top of that particular group with the second biggest stack gathered of anyone in the tournament. Kruger will be starting the final day with a robust 424,000 in chips. He absolutely ran over his flight from start to finish and will be looking to continue his heater all the way to the title.

Some other notable stacks to start the day include Canadian Jason James (403,500), Day 1c chipleader Vadim Rozin (349,000), Kenneth Luther (326,500), Victor Adams (301,000), Thomas Babiarz (291,000), and Seneca regular Chris Meyers (261,000).

One person everyone will be watching is local pro Dan Wagner, who is heading into Day 2 with 108,000 in chips. Wagner took down this exact event two years ago and will be clawing at a chance to do it again on today.

Day action 2 will kick off at 11 a.m. Sunday the 18th. The day will start on level 16 with the blinds at 2,000/4,000 and 4,000 big blind ante. The tournament will play down until the final table is set and players will return on the following day to crown a champion.
