After four qualifying flights in Event #1: $200 No-Limit Hold'em $50,000 guarantee at the 2018 Western New York Poker Challenge, a field of 798 entries has been reduced to just 104 hopefuls with Daniel Wagner at the helm.

Wagner's mark of 325,000 set back on Day 1a was not matched through the rest of the Day 1 flights giving the former Seneca Niagara Poker room champion an early advantage heading into Day 2. Wagner is chased most closely by Day 1b top stack Tim Campbell with 304,300, Day 1d chipleader Chris Babula and his 302,700, and Mike Rellinger with 284,800.

The payout structure has yet to be released but with all four flights combined, a total of 798 entries were accumulated creating a prize pool worth $128,877, smashing the $50,000 guarantee by more than 150%.

Day 2 will resume with about 20 minutes left on Level 14 playing blinds of 1,500/3000 and an ante of 400.

Stiles Dethrones Wagner

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Martin Stiles opened to 12,000 from late position and Dan Wagner called on the button. The two saw a {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{4-Hearts} flop and Wagner called a bet of 20,000 from Stiles.

The {j-Spades} hit the turn and once again Stiles bet 20,000. Wagner called to see the {5-Clubs} land on the river. Stiles fired a third barrel worth 30,000 and Wagner quickly called.

Stiles tabled the {a-Clubs}{8-Clubs} making the nut flush on the river and Wagner mucked.

Babula Gets an Early Gift

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Day 1d chipleader Chris Babula has claimed the early lead here on Day 2 after picking up pocket kings and slaying an opponent's ace-king. All the chips went into the middle creating a 300,000 chip pot and Babula's pair held to give him a huge stack.

Klis Coolers Bracken

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We were unable to catch the action but saw Ben Bracken leaving the table and a mountain of chips heading towards Erik Klis. According to the table, a string of bets put Bracken all in preflop holding pocket jacks but Klis had pocket kings. Bracken found no help and was guided to an unfortunate early exit.
