Three ways to the 10♣9♥2♣ flop, Nick Sissou was all-in out of the small blind and earned calls from Ahmed Karrim in the hijack as well as Tony Zhang on the button. Karrim bet the 6♠ turn for 19,000 and Zhang called for nearly two thirds of his remaining stack.

That led them to the Q♣ river on which Karrim bet another 10,000. Zhang was covered by that and called all-in to get shown 9♦9♣ for a set by Karrim. Zhang knuckled the table in defeat and mucked his cards but Sissou showed his J♣6♣ for a rivered flush to triple up in the main pot.

Sugen Singh had folded in a multi-way pot claiming to have let go of pocket jacks on a ten-high board with flush draw. That hand saw Adam Woolf double with 9♣9♥ for a set of nines to leave Okkie Fourie short.

One hand later, Muaaz Gani raised to 2,200 and Singh jammed for around 13,000 only in the hijack. Jon Per Persent called on the button and Gani quickly folded, joking "he always has it".

The door card was an ace but the flop came A♠Q♠3♠ to give Pillay a set. Some chop outs came with the 8♠ turn but the K♥ river sent Gossard to the rail.

Shaff Correctly Calls Out Cards and Beats Fourie

Darryl Shaff raised and Okkie Fourie then three-bet to 4,800 in the big blind. "Okay, I gonna call and beat your ace-queen," Shaff declared and tossed in a T-5,000 chip for the call.

They checked the A♥K♠9♥ flop before both invested 6,000 on the 10♣ turn. Both checked again the 6♣ river and Shaff joked "give me the money" as he checked behind.

Fourie was first to show and tabled his A♣Q♠ for the top pair. Shaff had that indeed beat with the K♥10♥ and fulfilled both parts of his prediction.

Muzey Gothey bet the K♦7♠3♣Q♥ turn for 7,500 to earn a call from Bradley Moore. He then jammed the 9♥ on the river and Moore instantly called.

Gothey revealed the K♣9♣ for rivered kings and nines, but Moore had turned superior two pair with K♥Q♣ already. The double of Moore was for 29,100 and that sent Gothey back below the starting stack.

A large pot of around 55,000 was brewing to the 10♦9♦5♦3♣J♥ river on which Stephen Courtney pushed all-in from the big blind. Brad Kibel had around 20,000 behind on the button and went into the tank, using two time bank extensions while talking through possible hand combinations.

Ultimately, Kibel called and was shown the A♦6♦ for the nut flush by Courtney. He tossed his 10♠10♣ in disgust to the muck before heading out of the tournament area.

In the last hand before the break, there was a big clash over on table five. "Always with the nuts, eh?" another player joked and Okkie Fourie sighed "well, he is my friend" after he had all but felted Sugen Singh.

On a board of Q♦8♣3♥3♣10♥, the K♣Q♥ of Singh had made two pair but Fourie had the best of it with Q♠Q♣ for queens full. Singh remained at the tables somewhat in shock and typed messages on his phone while all other players headed into the break.

Kushil Shah limp-called a raise to 2,000 by Nick Sissou and then led the 10♦5♥2♠ flop for 3,000, which Sissou called. Shah bet another 6,000 on the 7♦ turn to earn a call and fired a big bet of 15,000 on the 7♠ river.

Sissou folded and was shown the 5♠.

Down to around 20,000 - 50 big blinds at this stage - he then opted to open shove from middle position in the next hand. Jacobus de Nysschen rejammed with the biggest stack to force out everybody else.
