The GGPoker £560 UKPC Live Day 1a kicked off today with a bang as 216 entrants tried their luck to try and progress to Day 2. Gurdab Singh didn't make it to Day 2 but managed to chip up early as his opponent Mantas Buivydas rivered two pair against his turned straight..

Meanwhile, in the middle of the day Neil Van Der Merwe was the first to cross the million chip mark as he gathered momentum which allowed him to make it to Day 2.

Vermaut Arvid was lucky to bag as his pocket sixes managed to river a set to double against Buivydas's pocket jacks. Moreover Mingda Bi managed to build a big stack as he managed to near double with two pair in a huge pot midway through the day.

The bubble loomed and eventually burst in a dramatic fashion.Paresh Patel had check-raised all in from the big blind against Michael Skeldon from early position who called. Patel had flopped a set of fours against Skeldon's pocket kings on an eight-high flop. However, it would be a brutal turn for Patel as it came a king to give Skeldon top set and eliminate him from the tournament as the bubble boy.

As hand for hand play started there was an all in and a call at one of the tables.

Michael Skeldon had bet 200,000 from early position on the flop of {8-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Hearts} before Paresh Patel had check jammed all in from the big blind. Skeldon had called and the players kept their cards hidden as the action on other tables concluded.

Paresh Patel: {4-Clubs}{4-Spades}
Michael Skeldon: {k-Diamonds}{k-Spades}

Patel had flopped bottom set while Skeldon had an overpair. However it would be brutal for Patel as the turn would come the {k-Clubs} to put Skeldon in the lead. Patel however had a flush draw but it didn't come in as the river came the {5-Hearts} to eliminate Patel from the tournament as the bubble boy.

Joining the action with the board complete {j-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{10-Clubs}. There was around 1,000,000 in the pot.

Leslie Packer was in the small blind and had moved all in for 1,350,000 against Harry Eden in early position who had Packer slightly covered.

Eden used a time bank card before making the call. It was bad news as Packer turned over {6-Clubs}{6-Spades} for a full house to leave Eden with just 125,000.

Eden moved all in for the 125,000 from under the gun and was called by Costas Michael in the hijack and Packer on the button.

The flop came {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} and Packer bet 125,000 when checked to and Michael folded.

Harry Eden: {j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}
Leslie Packer: {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}

Eden was drawing thin and eliminated as the turn came the {2-Spades} and the river the {9-Clubs}.
