Greg Seif has been fighting all night, battling from short stack to okay, then back again. It looked like Seif was going to double up again, until a nasty river card.
The action folded to Marius Toderici who made it 185,000 from the cutoff. Ryan Perez and John Hayes folded. Seif had and Toderici had .
"Okay, I have to call ya," said Seif, putting all his chips in.
However, Seif had a little more than 185,000 so he had to put it all in on the flop. The flop was and Seif was knocked out by the river card.
Gerald Heckathorn, easily the most entertaining player at the final table has been eliminated. After doubling up John Kurfman, Heckathorn was left with just 105,000 when he shoved under-the-gun into Kurfman's big blind.
It folded around to Kurfman.
"I guess I won't even look," he said and called showing .
Heckathorn had and was at risk if Kurfman could catch up. The flop came .
"Two more hearts," Heckathorn said.
The table laughed and insisted he wanted no more hearts. The turn was the .
"No more hearts," said Heckathorn.
The river wasn't a heart but the was enough to send Heckathorn home in 6th place, giving Kurfman a pair of fives and the pot.
Greg Seif opened for 125,000 from the cutoff on a hand that would see John Kurfman doubled up against Gerald Heckathorn.
Kurfman shoved all in for 350,000 from the button over Seif's raise and Heckathorn reraised all in over the top of that for 475,000. Sief decided to fold and showed . Kurfman showed the "Ho-Chunk nuts" and Heckathorn had .
The flop made Seif cringe when it came , which would have given him the nut flush. The turn and the river came and Seif thought of what could have been while Kurfman collected the pot.
Thomas Peebles has just been eliminated by Marius Toderici shortly after the break.
The action folded to Peebles on the button and he shoved all in for 600,000. Gerald Heckathorn folded and Toderici asked for a count. When he heard the number, he called.
He showed and Peebles had . The came on the flop, along with the and the . The turn and the river didn't help Peebles when they came . Peebles was eliminated in 7th place.
Peebles has final tabled the last two MSPT Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells Main Events. He finished 2nd in February and 7th today.
Things had been relatively quiet until recently. Marius Toderici just won a 2.5-million chip pot, but that might be the least interesting thing that happened on this hand.
In preflop action, Greg Seif opened for 90,000. Gerald Heckathorn called before Marius Toderici shoved all in. Seif called and Heckathorn went into the tank for a little.
"Ok, I call," said Heckathorn.
At that, Toderici turned over his hand to show , but Seif and Heckathorn both had him covered so they didn't show theirs. Toderici realized his mistake and turned his hand back over.
Everyone at the table had seen it and knew what Seif and Heckathorn were up against. The flop came and Seif and Heckathorn checked. They checked the on the turn as well.
When the hit the river Heckathorn shoved all in. Seif snap folded and Toderici was worried that Heckathorn had made a flush.
Heckathorn turned over and Torderici was relieved that the 2.5-million chip pot was coming his way.
Seif laughed and said, "You know he had aces?"
"I knew what he had, I wanted your money," Heckathorn replied.
Gerald Heckathorn called on the river and didn't think he would win the hand. Instead he ended up eliminating Yao Yin because the board counterfeited Yin's pocket twos.
The board was and the action was checked around on the turn and the river until it fell to Yin on the button. He shoved and Heckathorn called.
"You win," said Heckathorn, showing .
Yin turned over and it turned out he actually didn't win, because Heckathorn had a flush to eliminate Yin.
After Steven Lauson's elimination, it was back to normal for this final table. They continued to play tight and wait to see who would break first.
Steven Gantner was just under 300,000 after one orbit and shoved under the gun with . The action folded all the way to Marius Toderici on the button. He hesitated for a second before going all in. Ryan Perez and John Hayes folded from the blinds.
Toderici had and was way ahead. His hesitation might have been a ploy to get more action, or perhaps a deep breath before he played a hand that could easily change his fate in this tournament.
The board was friendly to Toderici when it ran out and Gantner was eliminated.
